Logic hasn’t been quiet about the fact that Kanye West is one of his biggest influences, but he clearly doesn’t believe in his political views.

Logic is a huge fan of Kanye West and has been fairly open about Kanye being one of his bigger influences in music. In the wake of everything happening to Kanye West right now, including the cancelling of his Saint Pablo tour, his mental breakdown and the criticism of his involvement with Donald Trump, Logic had some comments.

Of course, Logic just released his newest album Everybody, which means every fan and publication is now doing their best to interpret the album and figure out what it stands for. Luckily, we have Logic to explain all that.

As Genius usually does, they sat down with Logic to give him a chance to explain some of the album’s most pressing issues. Kanye West was one of those issues.

First off, let’s get to what Logic said about Kanye in the actual album. It was his song ‘America’ that saw Logic question Yeezy’s political views, declaring that he is just out to give people ‘what they want.’

Here’s the outtake from the song:

“George Bush don’t care about black people
2017 and Donald Trump is the sequel
So shit, I say what Kanye won’t
Wake the f**k up and give the people what they want
Man it’s all love, but the youth is confused
Your music is 20/20 but them political views
Is blurred, and I ain’t trying to leave your name slurred
‘Cause honestly I idolize you on everything, my word
But I gotta say what need be said
‘Cause I ain’t fu**in’ with the hat with the colors that’s white and red”

Well, that little verse obviously speaks for itself. Logic doesn’t understand how Kanye could criticize George Bush for his treatment of the black community, but then support Donald Trump this year. He goes on to say that Kanye’s political views are ‘blurred’ and that he isn’t helping the young public make sense of it all.

Logic does go on to say how Kanye’s music is still easy to idolize for him, but felt it was time to speak up in hopes of changing things. Even prior to the album being released, Logic was seen on Twitter shouting out Kanye:

Now, let’s get to the explanation by Logic, who sat down with Genius to explain a deeper meaning to his songs on the album. “America” was one of those songs that he explained in full. Around the 4:00 mark is when Kanye West becomes the topic.

Here’s a video of the interview:

Logic continues to press issues in his music and it’s one of the biggest reasons a lot of people respect his music. You can check out the new song on Soundcloud or Apple Music — depends what kind of music lover you are.
