Chance the Rapper recently performed three Kanye West songs back-to-back-to-back at the Governors Ball Music Festival in New York City.

Chance the Rapper loves the number three, you can see it on his hat everywhere he goes. While wearing the hat at a recent performance in New York City, Chance decided to take a break from performing his own music. Instead, he performed three Kanye West hits off his newest album  back-to-back-to-back.

The three-time Grammy Award winner was doing a show at the 2017 Governors Ball Music Festival (Day 1) on June 2. We are all aware of the respect Chance has for Kanye, including the credits he was given on The Life of Pablo, so it’s no surprise to hear of him performing one of Kanye’s songs.

But three of them? That’s a huge sign of respect if I’ve ever seen one. When you think about it, most artists only want to go up and perform their own songs. I mean, why would you want to give your stage time to performing someone else’s music?

That just shows how great of a person Chance the Rapper is. Kanye is one of his hip-hop heroes and inspirations and Chance will let the whole world know that.

During the performance at Randall’s Island in New York City, Chance played his renditions of “Waves,” “Ultralight Beam” and “Father Stretch My Hands.” It’s important to note that Chance did receive writing credits on the three songs listed above, as well as earning production credits on “Ultralight Beam.”

All three songs also appeared on The Life of Pablo, which recently hit Platinum status.

Thanks to an article by Business Insider, we have video of the “Ultralight Beam” and “Father Stretch My Hands” performances, although the latter was from a different concert:

There was another rapper that payed homage to Kanye West at the Governors Ball Music Festival. Another Chicago rapper, like Kanye and Chance, King Louie performed his verse that landed on Kanye’s “Send It Up” track — off his Yeezus album.

It’s nice to see Kanye West‘s work getting noticed and even performed by other artists. Although it’s not that surprising, it’s good to see.

I can only hope to see Chance the Rapper earn some more credits on Kanye’s new album. He has been rumored to be working on a new album and that rumor was recently confirmed by Def Jam CEO Steve Bartels.

Stay wavy, my friends.

Next: Kanye almost titled one of his albums 'Donda's Boy'
