Kim Kardashian revealed that she was in so much pain during her pregnancy with North West, doctors feared she had miscarried.

It seems like just yesterday that the world was rejoicing the birth of North West, the daughter of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West. But while the tabloids and talk show hosts gleefully took part in the celebration of the birth, very few people knew about the drama behind the scenes of what could have been a heartbreaking pregnancy.

In a recent KUWTK retrospective interview, Kim revealed that she almost lost her baby at one point during the pregnancy. Kim spoke about the incident to Ryan Seacrest, noting that she was in so much pain that doctors believed she had miscarried.

"“I was so scared, I was having so much pain. I mean, at one point I thought I had a miscarriage — I was pretty certain about it. I didn’t know what was going on. I flew all the way home on Thanksgiving and the doctor told me, ‘There’s no heartbeat, you had a miscarriage. Let’s get through it, come in after Thanksgiving dinner.’"

That’s unbelievable. We can’t even imagine what those 24 hours were like for Kim, Kanye, and the family but as we know now the story had a happy ending.

"Then I went in that morning and he was like, ‘There’s a heartbeat, you didn’t have a miscarriage!’ and I was like, ‘Oh my God, this is a sign.’ It was such an emotional Thanksgiving, and Kourtney was the only one that knew about it. Her and Kanye, because we were in Miami living together.”"

I’m not a parent but this seems like one of those things where you don’t need to be one to appreciate the catharsis that Kim must have felt when she heard that news. You can’t fully feel it without having lived through it, but regardless of your feelings about Kim’s celebrity, you have to feel happy for her that this all ended well.

She’s a human being, plain and simple. If you can’t find joy in this story having a happy ending, then it might be time to take life a little less seriously.
