Kim Kardashian, Kanye West romance highs and lows: KUWTK couple’s timeline intrigues
Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have a romantic relation that’s like a roller-coaster, with scary highs and lows, but the KUWTK duo is still staying strong.
Kim Kardashian didn’t choose Kanye West as her first husband (in fact, Kanye ranks number three in Kim’s romance history). But once Kardashian and West finally got together as a couple, they repeatedly showed their commitment to keeping their relationship strong despite intense highs and equally intense lows.
Join us as we take a look at Kim’s and Kanye’s complicated and fascinating romance timeline.
Kim Kardashian married twice before Kanye West
When Kardashian tied the knot with West, she’d had plenty of experience. Life & Style pointed out that Kim first married Damon Thomas. The couple stayed in their relationship from 2000 to 2004, with Kardashian the one who filed for divorce.
Reflecting on that experience, Kim said that she had thought she knew “so much about love” when she was young. But “you look back later and probably realize it is not what you thought it was.”
After Thomas, Kardashian wed Kris Humphries. Kim filed for divorce following 72 days of apparently unwedded bliss. Their marriage took place in 2011, but the split didn’t get officially finalized until 2013.
How Kanye West fell in love with Kim Kardashian
Kanye and Kim started out as platonic pals in 2003, reported Insider. But although Kardashian was involved with Ray-J that year, Kanye later confessed that he knew early on that he “wanted her to be my girl.”
2009 marked the year when West devoted some of his music to Kim. His lyrics on Keri Hilson’s single “Knock You Down” included “We were never meant to be, baby we just happened…You should leave your boyfriend now.”
Those lyrics came out at the same time as Kardashian was dating Reggie Bush. Subtle, Kanye!
Kanye West wanted to stop Kim Kardashian from marrying Kris Humphries
West also subsequently admitted that he got a cellphone to try to persuade Kim not to tie the knot with Kris.
“I started sending [Kim Kardashian] pictures of, like, certain basketball players that used to be cool that now they wear their pants all the way up to here. Like, ‘This is your future.'” confessed Kanye.
After Kardashian and Humphries split, West used his music again to refer to Kim.
“And I’ll admit, I had fell in love with Kim / Around the same time she had fell in love with him / Well that’s cool, baby girl, do ya thang / Lucky I ain’t had Jay drop him from the team.”
The two began to date, and Kanye even appeared giving Kim style advice on Keeping Up With The Kardashians.
Cheating rumors, a baby, then comes marriage for Kim Kardashian, Kanye West
Kim soon announced that she was pregnant. But Kardashian’s and West’s joy at getting ready for a baby was marred with rumors that he was cheating on Kim. His spokesperson denied the rumors.
On June 15, 2013, North West arrived into the world. Her parents became engaged in October 21, 2013, with an extravagant wedding in May 2014.
Kanye has shown his pride in his baby girl, tweeting photos of her.
Kim Kardashian, Kanye West continue relationship ups and downs
Kim found herself in the middle of Kanye’s feud with Taylor Swift, and while that seemed to be the height of the couple’s dramas at the time, it definitely was forgotten when the details of Kardashian’s terrifying robbery in Paris emerged.
That frightening experience was followed by West’s health issues. He allegedly ended up in the hospital due to “temporary psychosis,” and the stress of Kim’s robbery was believed to be at least partly related to Kanye’s reported issues. But as always, her family came through to show their support.
Kim Kardashian, Kanye West welcome more babies
Baby bliss! With Kanye’s and Kim’s first son, Saint West, followed by a baby born via surrogate, a little girl named Chicago, the couple known as Kimye seem to have found peace.
Our prediction: Kim Kardashian and Kanye West will continue to stay in the Keeping Up With The Kardashians spotlight, but their love is real. What do you think? Share your comments below.
