Have mommy shamers gone too far with Kim Kardashian or are they right on target?

Mommy shamers are alive and well and when it comes to Kim Kardashian’s kids, they are ready to pounce at any second.

Kim Kardashian is no stranger to the mommy shamers of the world. What is a mommy shamer? According to the Urban Dictionary, “Criticizing or degrading a mother for her parenting choices because they differ from the choices the shamer would make.”

There is no one right way to parent, however, when it comes to babies, there are certain recommendations that are put in place to avoid tragic accidents.

Kim Kardashian: Experts’ insights

For example, the American Academy of Pediatrics, suggests placing a baby on his or her back on a firm surface, such as a crib or bassinet with a tight-fitting sheet. To protect against SIDS, (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome), parents should avoid the use of soft bedding, including crib bumpers, blankets, pillows and soft toys. Basically, the crib should be bare.

The first picture Kim posted of her new son Psalm sleeping in his bassinet, had mommy shamers going crazy and there were no shortage of comments.

People pointed out the issues with Psalm’s sleeping accommodations and were very concerned.

Mommy shamers can be pretty rough but this time, many of the comments seemed to be educational.

Thankfully, Kim has continued to treat us to those adorable photos on Instagram!

Kim Kardashian gets mommy-shamed for more than one kid

Kim did not respond, however, ended up taking down the image on Instagram. Kim and the Kardashian family are no strangers to mommy shamers. Kim was verbally shamed for letting her first daughter, North, wear makeup. Kourtney and Khloe have also experienced the wrath of the shamers.

Someone is always going to have something to say about Kim’s parenting methods. This isn’t her first rodeo, and while shamers have a legitimate concern based on the picture of Psalm, I think we can be sure Kim knows what she is doing at this point, or at least we hope so.

Perhaps the sleeping set up was just for the picture? Maybe they put him down for a few seconds, decided to snap a selfie and then picked Psalm up?

Only Kim knows, but hopefully she is aware of SIDS and if not, read the mommy shamer’s comments and will think about how she puts Psalm to sleep.

Educate, don’t hate

It’s not about shaming or blaming a mother for her parenting choices and mommy shamers can be hurtful and downright brutal. Many of us do the best that we can. It should be about educating and creating awareness. In Kim’s case, I believe it was the latter.

Is Kim Kardashian a bad parent? NO! In fact, she, along with her sisters, are amazing parents. They are involved, loving and are clearly enjoying the journey.

There are several reasons why moms shame other moms and they’re not pretty. From being bored to jealous, tired and angry, moms often misdirect their emotions onto other moms. It can be cruel, hurtful and downright caddy, however, it can also be about expressing concern, which in Kim’s case, could end up preventing a tragedy.

The craziness doesn’t end at mom shamers. There are body shamers and even balloon shamers. Yep, balloon shamers. Those guys can get downright nasty, trust me, I know. I once showed a video of my son releasing a few balloons that were tied to his pacifier. It was our way of saying goodbye to his beloved pinky. Of course they didn’t get far and got stuck in the trees.

The amount of hateful comments and threats I received were insane. While I of course don’t condone hurting animals with balloons, there is a serious balloon cult out there and they don’t mess around. Next time you think about releasing a balloon, be prepared. The balloon police will be on you like white on rice.

Okay, back to Kim. Just like haters gonna hate, shamers gonna shame, and if you are Kim Kardashian, it comes with the territory. She has put her whole life on display and people are going to have opinions about her parenting skills.

Speaking of display, Melissa Gorga, the well-known New Jersey Housewife, who is no stranger to shamers, sang it best. “Cause I’m on display, on display, on display. Each and every day, every day, every day.”
