I did Cuba like a Kardashian while it was still legal, well kind of

In case you haven’t heard, the US is once again banned from Cuba using the visas that allowed us to go by boat and plane. However, I stopped in right before the ban and it was every Kardashian fan’s dream.

Doing Cuba like a Kardashian

The first thing I thought of when I went to Cuba was the fact that the Kardashians went. The city of Havana has a few classic must do things, so I knew I had to do what every Kardashian did.

While on my tour of Havana we saw a hotel that the Kardashians actually stayed in while they were there. I’m sure you can imagine my excitement. I tried to take a photo, but you know, bus tour + dirty bus windows + other tourists = not amazing quality.

Oh well, here it is in all it’s glory:

The Kardashians took some somewhat offensive photos, glorifying the Communist Cuban government, so I tried to refrain from doing the same. The culture of Cuba though is really what makes it so special.

I won’t lie, the Kardashians had a much more glamorous trip than I did. The best of the 50s cars waiting for them, people taking photos and they seemed to enjoy much more AC than I did on my trip. But, without the last name Kardashian, you don’t really get treated like royalty while you’re there.

However, when in Cuba there are a few things that must be done, even if they seem stereotypical. These include Rum and Cigar tastings. Just like Khloe and Kourtney, my friend and I made sure to try out Cuban cigars. As a not avid smoker (aka never) I was surprised by how great they tasted. They don’t lie when they say “don’t inhale”.

Just like on Keeping up with the Kardashians, they light the cigar with a piece of cedar to keep the whole process natural.

And me:

I totally fit in right?

As for the Rum, they also go on a tasting at Havana Club. The most famous Cuban Rum and let me tell you, it is strong. It does have a very different taste though than what you find here in the States.

Things I noticed

In one scene, Kourtney talks about how Cuba is much safer when it comes to driving because no one is in a rush. If you have ever been to Cuba and it was like when I was there, it seems like there’s literally no road rules at all. Maybe they have just gotten crazier in the last two years. But even on the sidewalk I was scared I would get run over.

Nonetheless, the time spent on the roads between the buildings was so pretty. Just like you see on the Kardashians.

Fabrica De Arte

Let’s talk about Fabrica De Arte, the musical art museum/club hybrid. This was by far one of my favorite parts of my time in Havana. Without even realizing it, the Kardashians went there too! Again, I’m elated.

Basically, the whole building is an art museum but at night it turns into a club. There’s music, drinking and dancing. A cultural experience like none other! When the Kardashians went, they just got to see it during the day. However, when it gets dark, it’s a whole other environment.

How cute is my travel buddy??

The best part? CATS JUST WALK AROUND. Cats in the club? Sign me up!

Unfortunately, for cultural experiences, there won’t be a lot of American travel to Cuba anymore. However, if you were lucky enough to experience it in time, you really do know the magic that can be found in Havana.
