It’s Official: A ‘Friends’ Reunion Is FINALLY Happening
By Alia
Today is the day all Friends fans’ prayers are being answered, a reunion is finally happening!
This is not a drill! There is, in fact, a Friends reunion in the works, everybody! No, this isn’t a trick (we aren’t that cruel).
All six main actors – Jennifer Aniston, David Schwimmer, Courtney Cox, Mathew Perry, Matt LeBlanc and Lisa Kudrow, are reuniting for a one-off unscripted Friends special this May 2020 that will kick off the launch of HBO Max, the soon-to-be-launched streaming service that will be home to all 10 seasons of the show.
Kevin Reilly, HBO Max’s Chief Content Officer confirmed the news earlier saying, “Guess you could call this ‘The One Where They All Got Back Together’ — we are reuniting with David, Jennifer, Courteney, Matt, Lisa, and Matthew. ”
The main cast also spread the news by posting identical Instagram posts of an old cast photoshoot, except for Matt Leblanc who cheekily posted the cast of M.A.S.H, simply captioned “It’s Happening.” Equal parts mysterious and exciting!
While this reunion should not be looked at as an official revival or reboot, we already know that it is going to be one for the books. At the very least, it’s a genius marketing tool for HBO Max, which is set to launch in May 2020, especially after Friends disappearance from American Netflix.
It appears people who dreaded having to pay for another streaming platform are now screaming, “PLEASE, take my money!”. Well played, HBO Max. Well played.
Friends fans looking forward to the reunion special will be able to watch it (and all 10 seasons of the beloved comedy) this May when HBO Max launches.
Let us know if you will be tuning into the unscripted special, and if you are just as excited as we are!
