Former Teen Wolf star Tyler Posey has been vocally campaigning for MTV to bring back its hit supernatural drama be it for a reunion season or TV movie.
In summer 2011, MTV took a chance in venturing into the world of scripted television with a supernatural drama led by former child actor Tyler Posey. The series quickly became a breakout hit for the network, developing a passionate fandom.
After six seasons and 100 episodes, MTV decided to bring the series to a close with the series finale airing in Sept. 2017 — much to the disappointment of fans. Although it’s been less than three years since we last stepped foot in the fictional town of Beacon Hills, star Tyler Posey is ready to return to the series which made him a household name!
Tyler Posey campaigns for MTV to return to Beacon Hills with Teen Wolf revival
In taking to Twitter, Teen Wolf‘s leading man Tyler Posey expressed his desire for MTV to bring back the fan-favorite series, noting he felt it was the right time to bring the series back for new episodes.
As Posey noted, there’s no time like the present for the cast to reassemble for what could be a high school reunion type approach reuniting his character Scott McCall with his former classmates and pack members.
Days later, Posey followed up on his original plea for more Teen Wolf in tweeting out a series of hashtags designed to further the conversation and create buzz. Interestingly, in his follow-up message, Posey poses an interesting alternative to a full-blown revival in the form of a Teen Wolf movie.
Although less uncommon than revivals, TV movie follow-ups such as USA’s Pysch are great ways for fans to reunite with beloved franchises and continue the story one a more limited scope.
As creator Jeff Davis himself admitted in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter back in 2017 following the series finale, the writing team strategically went with an open-ended finale which could allow for more stories to be told and left the door wide open for a revival and a TV movie would be a perfect medium for revisiting the series.
"“I thought about what kind of series finale fits this show best, and to me, it was, ‘And the adventure continues …’ That’s what we wanted to go for,” Davis said at the time. “I want to know that Scott and his friends have many more stories to tell. This story isn’t over. He goes off and fights many more battles, makes new friends, faces down new enemies.”"
Tyler Posey’s former co-stars are more than ready to sign up for a Teen Wolf revival
While Tyler Posey has been leading the charge in pushing for a Teen Wolf revival, his campaign efforts were quickly endorsed by several of his former Teen Wolf co-stars.
“I’m. So. Down,” commented Cody Christian, who played redeemed baddie Theo Raeken in the later seasons of the show. “I agree with all these things. Count me tf in,” echoed Khylin Rhambo, who played the lovable, fan-favorite Mason Hewitt.
The sentiment was also shared by original star Colton Haynes, who played Scott’s nemesis, Jackson Whittemore, in season 1 and 2. He would later return for the show’s final season, which saw the character turn over a new leaf in joining forces with his one-time foe.
While it’s unclear whether the MTV brass has any plans to consider a revival, it’s a positive sign to see so many of the show’s cast members coming forward to express interest in reprising their roles. After all, it’s hard to get any revival off the ground without support and interest from the stars who helped fans fall in love with the show to begin with!
