They’re part of a long list of characters, Pitt has played over the years and it’s a list which could have well included a number of additional iconic cinematic characters… if only Pitt hadn’t passed them over at various points in his career.
It’s far from uncommon for actors to pass on roles. From lack of interest in a concept, creative differences leading to changes with the initial vision and sometimes it just comes down to timing. About a Boy is known as the film that forever cemented Hugh Grant’s status as a king of the rom-con genre. It turns out though, the role was originally offered to Brad Pitt who turned it down for the most bizarre of reasons.
As the story goes, Pitt was approached about the lead role for the film but ultimately chose to pass because he felt the film’s premise was a bit too farfetched.
