Kate Middleton reportedly never tried to show Meghan Markle the ropes

It seems Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle never quite got off on the right foot.

From the moment Meghan Markle first entered the royals’ world, rumors began swirling that she and Kate Middleton didn’t quite see eye to eye. As rumor has it, the pair never quite clicked with a new report indicating that Kate was a bit cold to Meghan upon her arrival

According to a royal insider via Tatler, Kate never took it upon herself to welcome Meghan Markle in with open arms by showing her the ropes. As revealed by the unnamed close family friend, Kate is rumored to have never made an effort to help Meghan transition into the royal world in showing her the ropes and being a guide to navigating the royal world.

As the insider revealed, “It’s no secret that the royal sisters-in-law never got on. I don’t think that she ever pulled Meghan under her wing and said, ‘I’ll show you the ropes.'”

Considering Kate has always been an advocate for supporting women, it’s hard to imagine she’d give Meghan the cold shoulder. While it’s hard to know exactly what went down behind closed doors, the insider’s claim does seem to line up with the longstanding reports that Kate and Meghan never quite clicked.

Kate Middleton and the royals refute Tatler report

While Kate Middleton and the royal family typically don’t respond to reports from the media, they made a rare exception in issuing a statement directly connected to the Tatler report.

Per a statement released by an official Kensington Palace spokesperson, “[The Tatler] story contains a swathe of inaccuracies and false misrepresentations which were not put to Kensington Palace prior to publication.”

As no specific points of the article were directly referenced, it’s hard to determine which segments and which the royal family dispute. One thing that is certain is Tatler remains adamant the royals were made aware of the story in advance and the sources were closely vetted.

"“Kensington Palace knew we were running the ‘Catherine the Great’ cover story months ago and we asked them to work together on it,” Richard Dennen, editor in chief of Tatler, said in a statement responding to the royal’s statement. “The fact they are denying they ever knew is categorically false.”"
