Fans know Robert Kardashian as the Kardashians’ dad, but what did he do for a living?
In 2007, the Kardashians became a household name when E! debuted the first season of Keeping Up with the Kardashians. Through the series, fans have had the chance to get to know nearly the entire Kardashian family with one minor exception: Kardashian patriarch Robert Kardashian.
Although Robert Kardashian’s life and legacy have lived on through his four children Kourtney, Khloe, Rob, and Kim Kardashian, Robert passed away before KUWTK premiered. As a result, most viewers never had the chance to fully get to know who Robert was or what he happened to do for a living.
While fans have had the chance to learn about Robert through sweet stories shared over the years by his four children as well as his former wife, Kris Jenner, to younger audiences much of Robert’s life is a mystery.
What did Kourtney, Khloe, Rob, and Kim Kardashian’s dad Robert Kardashian do for a living?
The late Robert Kardashian made a life for himself and his family as an attorney and businessman. He’s best known for his friendship with O.J. Simpson and the role he played as part of Simpson’s defense team — known to many as the “dream team” — during the infamous 1995 murder trial.
While Robert is best known for his role in the O.J. Simpson trial and as an attorney, the Kardashian patriarch later pursued a number of business ventures. As The Sun reports, these included a frozen yogurt company, magazine Radio & Records, and music company Movie Tunes.
As for his personal life, Robert married Kris Kardashian (now, Jenner) in July 1978. The couple had four children over the years including Robert’s namesake and only son, Robert Arthur Kardashian, and enjoyed 13 years of marriage together.
Three years before Robert took on the case that would define his career, he and Kris divorced after he discovered Kris was having an affair with soccer player Todd Waterman. Although the affair brought an end to their marriage, Robert and Kris managed to successfully co-parent — helping set a positive example for their children in the process.
Unfortunately, Robert passed away at the age of 59 after a short battle with esophageal cancer in 2003, four years before Keeping Up with the Kardashians premiered. Although Robert never had the chance to appear on the series or see his kids achieve success, his memory lives on in each of them and the legacy they’ve built.
Were you among the many who followed the career of Robert Kardashian during and after the O.J. Simpson trial occurred? Were you aware of how Robert Kardashian passed away or that he wasn’t married to Kris at the time of his death?
