Kate Middleton expressed concerns about Meghan Markle when she first began dating Prince Harry
Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle‘s feud has made headlines for years and it seems the two members of the royal family had issues from the very start.
According to the new book Royals at Wars: The Untold Story of Harry and Meghan’s Shocking Split with the House of Windsor, via Daily Mail, Kate voiced concerns with Meghan early on in her relationship with Prince Harry. In fact, she even made an attempt to encourage Harry to proceed with caution rather than diving into his new relationship head first.
As the book’s authors investigative journalists Dylan Howard and Andy Tillett reveal in the book, Kate was weary of Meghan from the start and voiced her concerns to Harry. Worried about Meghan’s ability to integrate and become accustomed to the royals’ life, Kate “gently reminded that he was dating someone with a completely different life, past, and career.”
In simpler terms, it seems Kate wasn’t exactly smitten with Meghan and had concerns early on about her ability to assimilate to the royal lifestyle.
The reports that Kate cautioned Harry about his budding relationship with Meghan seem to support a May report from Tatler which reported Kate never attempted to take Meghan under her wing. As a source told the publication, Kate never “pulled Meghan under her wing and said, ‘I’ll show you the ropes.'”
Are Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle still feuding?
Following the Tatler article on Kate Middleton, the Royal Family issued a formal statement disputing the article and its “inaccuracies and false misrepresentations.” To many, the statement was seen as an effort by the palace to dispute the long-running feud rumors between Kate and Meghan Markle.
Although it seems clear that Kate and Meghan will never be the closest inlaws, the two royals have long maintained a professional relationship and seem to be on amicable terms — at least at the current moment.
