Kourtney Kardashian is giving the Keto diet another try
Kourtney Kardashian recently clapped back at claims that the popular diet she follows is harmful. “All of you saying Keto is unhealthy, personally, I love it.”
On Thursday, the eldest Kardashian sister posted an Instagram Story showing herself testing her ketone levels, along with a caption that geared towards the followers who called her out for following the carb-restrictive diet. “To the one who said I should let you know that I am not a dietitian, you are correct. Sorry if anyone thought that was my profession,” the reality star wrote (Via People).
The story post came a few days after she shared that she was starting the keto diet again after taking a break from it. “Keto starts today,” she wrote in a June 29 Instagram Story. She showcased her lunch, consisting of avocado, turkey, cheese, and a salad.
"“And to all of you saying keto is unhealthy, my doctor has me do it for brief periods to help detox metals or toxins,” the mother of three added. “So I would not recommend this without checking with your doctor first,” she explained. “But my doctor, I trust puts me on it and I personally love it,” she assured.“And diabetes does run in my family and my doctor also has me check my glucose levels while doing keto for those questioning that too,” Kourtney continued. “Thank you all for your concern.”"
The reality star added that the number that tracked her ketone levels “goes crazy,” and signed off the post encouraging her followers to “have a happy day”
Called the “keto diet,” this meal-plan regimen consists of high fat and low carbs, aiming to send the body to a state of ketosis. This is directed to burn fat instead of carbohydrates, and many celebrities have actually tried this method! While it is popular, the keto diet has been bashed by plenty of other people, such as trainer Jillian Michaels — who argues that simply eating fatty and low-carbohydrate foods is not how we are meant to eat, and that fruits and vegetables are vital.
Kourtney, on the other hand, claims that the keto diet gives her the best results in terms of weight loss.
"“My body never looked better than when I did the keto diet two and half years ago when I did it for two months,” she wrote in a post on her lifestyle website, Poosh, last year. “In my experience, I’ve found the best method to train my body to curb sugar cravings, burn fat, and kick-start weight loss is by sticking to a keto diet.”"
