If Kanye West is elected, will Kim Kardashian leave Keeping Up with the Kardashians?

On July 4, Kanye West capped off the Fourth of July holiday in quite the memorable way in announcing his plans to run for President in 2020. Always the supportive wife, Kim Kardashian quickly retweeted her husband’s tweet and kept things simple with the American Flag.

While Kim Kardashian and Kanye are in no ways politicians, the two are far from unfamiliar with politics and the White House; however, brushing elbows with politicians and standing up for worthy causes is a lot different than running for office and entering the world of politics as an elected official.

At this point, there is no telling how far Kanye might actually go now that he’s made his desire to run for office known or whether he’ll manage to get his name on the November ballot. However, should he manage to actually succeed in his goal of becoming the next President of the United States there is no doubt his life, as well as Kim’s life and their family’s lives, would be changed forever.

There are infinite questions that a Kanye West presidency would raise, but one likely to be at the forefront of all Keeping Up with the Kardashian fans’ minds is just what it would mean for Kim Kardashian’s role on the long-running E! series.

Will Kim Kardashian leave KUWTK if Kanye becomes President?

Should Kanye West become president, that would make Kim Kardashian the new First Lady of the United States. This new role would come with a lot of new responsibilities and alter the day to day life of Kim Kardashian.

While as First Lady, Kim would be able to continue her fight for criminal justice reform in the nation. Undoubtedly, Kim would be able to use the First Lady platform to help make some real progress in furthering the conversation which she has passionately been promoting. What’s not as certain is whether she’d be permitted to continue to appear as a regular part of the Keeping Up with the Kardashians cast.

Although politicians of today have become much more accustomed to using social media and making television appearances than those of the past, it’s hard to imagine the First Lady would be permitted to appear on a reality show which could put Kim’s role in jeopardy should Kanye be elected.

Theoretically speaking, even if Kim were not permitted to appear on the show in a regular role, if she were to become First Lady there’s no denying E! would look to capitalize on the unprecedented opportunity it would be handed in offering Americans an unfiltered look into the First Family’s lives.

Even if Kim were to only appear via brief cameos or phone-in type appearances, can you just imagine how much material the show would have to work with as the rest of the family adjusts to the changes? Who knows, perhaps it could even yield a spinoff focusing the Kanye’s political aspirations and campaign efforts — which the Kardashian family would likely collectively assist with.

While only time will tell what the future holds for Kim Kardashian and the Kardashian family, one thing is certain. Keeping Up with the Kardashians fans are in for quite the wild ride.
