Why did Kourtney Kardashian leave Keeping Up with the Kardashians?

From the very beginning of its run, Kourtney Kardashian was always a mainstay on Keeping Up with the Kardashians. More often than not, Kourtney was the Kardashian who kept her sisters in check and wasn’t afraid to call them out — take for example the infamous moment in which Kourtney put life into perspective when Kim lost a diamond earring in the ocean.

So when Kourtney announced she was going to be stepping back from the long-running reality series last fall, fans were understandably shocked and disappointed.

In the months that followed Kourtney’s announcement, speculation ran rampant in regards to the exact reasoning behind her decision. With the arrival of Keeping Up with the Kardashians season 18, fans received some insight into her exit which seemed to have stemmed from her physical showdown with sister Kim Kardashian; however, she never fully revealed why exactly she left the series… that is until now.

Speaking with Vogue Arabia, Kourtney finally revealed the reason behind her decision to leave Keeping Up with the Kardashians and let’s just say she did not hold back with the details.

According to Kourtney, her decision to step away from her role on Keeping Up with the Kardashians after filming the show for 14 years straight she found it was time to take a break. While this isn’t exactly new information, as Kourtney has previously made similar comments about needing to take a break, what is interesting is the exact reason for her departure.

As Kourtney told Vogue Arabia:

"“I have been filming the show non-stop for 14 years… I was feeling unfulfilled and it became a toxic environment for me to continue to have it occupy as much of my life as it was.”"

Yikes! While it was clear Kourtney was unhappy, it’s interesting to hear things had gotten so bad that she felt she was occupying a toxic environment or feeling unfulfilled.

In further elaborating on her decision, Kourtney noted that she found balancing private moments with shooting a reality show had become quite difficult. Rather than sticking around and being miserable, Kourtney decided to put her happiness first and focusing on putting her energy into that which makes her happy.

Although Kourtney might have considered the environment of the show toxic, it seems she’s recently had a change of heart as rumor has it she has been filming footage for the show. So it seems she might have come around and found happiness and purpose in easing back into her role on the show.
