Just when you think you’ve heard it all, Kanye West has a little more to say, reports Us Weekly. In a recent interview with Nick Cannon, Yeezy surprised us once again, opening up about everything from his 2016 stint in the hospital to his 2020 vision, and of course, his relationships. Namely, his on-again, off-again feud with Taylor Swift.

Kanye West reflected on that fateful moment his beef with Taylor began during the 2009 VMAs. The rapper told Cannon, “If God didn’t want me to run on stage and say, ‘Beyoncé had the best video,’ he wouldn’t have sat me in the front row.”

Well, that’s one way to look at it.

To refresh your memory (although I’m sure none of us will ever forget), Kanye took that glittery mic from the pop star before her acceptance speech and told the world, “Taylor Swift, I’mma let you finish, but Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time!”

Kanye West continued to explain what compelled him to interrupt Swift’s acceptance speech for Female Video of the Year back then, telling Cannon, “I would’ve been sitting in the back. He wouldn’t have made it the first award. And he wouldn’t have made it so ridiculous of an idea ’cause I had never heard of this person before that night.”

Hopefully, Kanye’s take on what went down doesn’t spark the thousandth round of their feud.

Swift’s VMA win for “You Belong With Me” was the first time a country artist had received the honor, making music history in her own right. And whether Kanye had truly never heard of Taylor Swift or not, most still argue that the rapper jumped the gun when he hopped on stage.

So if hindsight truly is 2020, perhaps Kanye should’ve let Taylor finish. As for “Single Ladies” being one of the “best videos of all time,” you won’t get an argument out of me.
