After Kim Kardashian announced the cancellation of the reality show Keeping Up with the Kardashians, people weighed in with their thoughts on the news.
This Tuesday, reality TV star and mother of four Kim Kardashian announced on her Instagram and Twitter that their family show Keeping Up with the Kardashians will be ending after 14 years of filming. “The show, which catapulted the family to fame, completely changed my life.”
Kim wasn’t the only one to break the news — momager Kris Jenner and youngest Kardashian sister Khloe also posted the statement on their social media. “I am so grateful and thankful to everyone who has supported us and been there through it all,” the Revenge Body host wrote.
The founder of the entire Kardashian-Jenner empire also thoughtfully mentioned executive producer Ryan Seacrest. “A very special thank you to Ryan Seacrest for believing in us, E! for being our partner, and our production team at Bunim/Murray, who’ve spent countless hours documenting our lives,” she said on her Instagram.
The show, which started in 2007, was a reality series that focused on both the professional and personal aspects of the Kardashian-Jenner family.
While there was no major reason as to why the family decided on ending the show, and their statements don’t hint at any possible drama or reasons, it is certain that it was all a mutual decision made together. “The kids who started the show now have their own kids and it’s getting very hard to film altogether or get enough footage separately.”
Keeping up with the Kardashians fans reaction to cancellation
Some fans are responding to the news heartbroken, completely unsure of what they’re going to watch now! Others wonder how meme-culture will be affected by the cancellation, as the reality show has given us all so many comedic images, gifs, and short videos.
“What are we going to watch now?” one fan wrote under the statement Kris made. “Thank you for this amazing show,” another person commented ending with a heart. Another said, “Wow! The end of an era.”

The manager’s comments section is flooded with a mix of crying and broken-hearted emojis, as well as the occasional thank-you’s for the laughs and entertainment the show provided everyone.
That isn’t to say there weren’t any nasty comments — Twitter users ruthlessly came for Kim under her tweet stating the news. One user wrote, “That is a MIRACLE. It has been rich TRASH on television since it started.” Just a few seconds of scrolling, one could find another tweet reading, “it was absolute trash and terrible for society, especially young girls. 14 years too late.”
It’s pretty safe to say that the news sparked a reaction from both fans and haters alike, people from both sides weighing in their thoughts on the iconic show coming to an end.
The 20th and final season of Keeping Up with the Kardashians is set to air in 2021.
