The marketing for the upcoming episodes of Keeping Up with the Kardashians has fans wondering, are we on KUWTK season 18 or 19?
On Sept. 17, Keeping Up with the Kardashians returns with its first new episodes in months after following its April 30 finale.
In the months that have passed since the series last aired, quite a lot has happened guaranteeing the upcoming episodes will have plenty of new drama to highlight. From the ongoing pandemic and the changes it brought to the Kardashians’ daily lives to family drama, the upcoming episodes of Keeping Up with the Kardashians promise to leave no rock unturned — well, no rock other than the one used to hide away Kim and Kanye’s relationship drama.
Between episodes, we’ve also learned that the show’s time on air is closely approaching the finish line with plans to end the series with season 20 in 2021. Knowing there are only a limited number of episodes left before we bid farewell to one of our longest-running guilty pleasures, it makes each episode that much more special and treasured.
While we’re anxiously awaiting the return of new episodes, there is one puzzling question that has begun to get fans talking: exactly what season is Keeping Up with the Kardashians actually on?
Is Keeping Up with the Kardashians on season 18 or season 19?
When the series signed off in April, fans were assured the second half of season 18 would be coming their way this fall. So when E! announced Keeping Up with the Kardashians would return on Sept. 17 the assumption was the new episodes would be part of the show’s current eighteenth season.
However, confusion quickly started to grow when word broke that the Kardashians were planning on ending the show in early 2021 with season 20. After all, if season 20 were to air in early 2021 and the back half of season 18 set to air in the fall of 2020 when would E! find time to squeeze in season 19.

Well, it now seems we have a clear picture of what E!’s plan is for the show and we have to admit we’re somewhat disappointed.
While the upcoming episodes had previously been promoted to part of season 18, it looks like E! is now officially promoting the Sept. 17 premiere as the season 19 premiere, not the season 18 midseason premiere!
As a result of this change, season 18 has suddenly become the show’s shortest season yet with just six episodes total and we expect season 19 will be on the shorter end as well.
Don’t miss the season 19 premiere of Keeping Up with the Kardashians Thursday, Sept. 17 at 8/7c on E!
