In yet another Twitter rant, Kanye West exposes certain sides of the music industry — tweeting contract PDFs, plus a video of him urinating on a Grammy.

Kanye West goes off on the music industry in his most recent Twitter rant, tweeting a video of him urinating on his Grammy. The Chicago rapper got into it this morning with Sony and Universal, calling them out and even posting screenshots of his contracts with Universal.

The video, currently at about 22 million views and counting, shows West openly urinating on his Grammy. “Trust me… I won’t stop,” he said on the tweet. While the statuette sitting in his toilet being subjected to a golden shower is disgusting at first look, the message behind Ye’s bold gesture can be seen as powerful.

“Trust me, I won’t stop until all is fair, trust me from Nat Ye, AKA Baby Putin,” West said continuing his thread. In the ongoing public tirade, the music mogul (and 2020 presidential hopeful?) expressed his feelings in wanting to free himself — and countless other Black artists — from their oppressive contracts with labels in the industry. “The music industry and the NBA are modern-day slave ships, I’m the new Moses.”

Kanye West calls out Sony and Universal

“I’m not putting no more music out till I’m done with my contract with Sony and Universal,” he tweeted Monday. “On God … in Jesus name … come and get me.”

While many fans were quick to comment in concern for the Chicago rapper’s mental health, Ye did not let up with the tweets, constantly coming back with more to say. Adding on to his previous tweets of PDFs of his 10 Universal contracts, he proceeded to explain his problems with the settlements between artists and the creative industry.

Ye made it a point to consistently target the huge companies Sony and Universal, repeating “come and get me” on his Twitter. The tone behind his series of tweets shows that the Life of Pablo artist will not be silenced and will not back down from his platform in speaking up about the binding between creatives and the industries in which they work in.

“I need to see everybody’s contracts at Universal and Sony … I’m not gonna watch my people be enslaved,” West said in another tweet. “I’m putting my life on the line for my people.”

Amplifying the voices of other creatives, Kanye also called on other big employees to speak up alongside him on the injustices in the industries and even referenced the late Prince and Michael Jackson.

Wife Kim Kardashian has not made any comments about this, but many fans suspect this to be another of Ye’s manic episodes, thinking that the family is dealing with the aftermath of his tweets in private. As funny as it may be seeing a famous person openly urinate on their Twitter timeline, this is a firm reminder of the importance of mental health, and checking in on those close to us.
