Meghan Markle couldn’t be more excited to spend the 2020 holiday season stateside with family and friends rather than with the royal family.

After the Queen’s snub during her 2019 Christmas Day address drove Meghan Markle and Prince Harry away from their royal posts, it seems the couple is looking to make happier memories this holiday season from the comfort of their home.

As revealed by The Mirror, Meghan and Harry have decided not to travel to the UK this holiday season. Instead, the pair have made the decision to celebrate Christmas in sunny California surrounded by family and friends — something that Meghan and Harry couldn’t be more excited about!

Meghan Markle excited not spend holidays with Kate Middleton, Prince William and the royals

Although there had been speculation about Meghan and Harry considering a return to the UK to celebrate the holiday season with the royal family, it seems Meghan and Harry have decided to instead stay home and avoid the drama that would surely come in spending the holidays with their family.

The news shouldn’t come as any surprise given how tense the relationships between Meghan and her sister-in-law Kate Middleton and Prince Harry and his brother Prince William have been in recent months. William and Harry are said to not have spoken in months — with William even choosing to flake on Harry’s virtual birthday bash — while Kate and Meghan have never quite been the best of friends.

Instead of spending the holidays with the royal family, Meghan and Harry will celebrate with Meghan’s mom as well as close confidants David Foster and his wife Katherine McPhee. The chance to spend the holidays with those whose company she enjoys to keep and to partake in her family’s traditions is something which has Meghan extremely excited for.

"“She’s really excited and is planning on doing all the traditions she grew up with as a child, including the cooking,” a source revealed to The Mirror."

Honestly, we can’t fault Meghan for being excited to make new memories and traditions with Harry and their son and there’s nothing more special than hosting your first Christmas in a new home. Plus, the holidays are supposed to be a time for joy, not tension-filled gatherings.
