Still wondering why Keeping Up With the Kardashians is really ending? Well, Kim Kardashian just revealed her take on the big decision. The reality star is sharing her two cents on what she believes truly caused their family to end the series.
Fans were shocked when the ladies of the show took to Instagram to announce KUWTK would be ending with season 20. As we previously reported, the fans weren’t alone in that feeling. Since the big reveal, many of the Kardashian-Jenners have admitted that they weren’t totally ready for the news, and even Kris Jenner said she was surprised by it in the beginning.
Naturally, everyone waited with bated breath to hear where Kim Kardashian really stood (beyond a sentimental Instagram caption). And now, we know.
As BuzzFeed reports, Kim recently opened up in a candid interview with Grazia. In a discussion about everything from Kanye West’s battle with COVID-19 to motherhood, the famous mom also shared her true feelings on having the show she pioneered come to a final end. And why it’s happening.
“We never imagined we would get on to Season 2. Now we’re on 20,” Kim shared, explaining that the reason for the cancellation is actually much more simple than the masses seem to realize (or believe), adding, “Sometimes we just need a break. It’s really simple. We just need a minute to regroup.”
Fair enough. As Kim points out, the Kardashian-Jenners haven’t had anything remotely resembling a real break in years. She added, “We haven’t had a break for 14 years. We’ve gone in filming a season, then a spinoff and I think there’s no other way to say it other than we just live such big lives.”
Those “big lives,” Kim pointed out now include kids for most of the family members. Rather than to continue thrusting their children into the spotlight, Kim claimed the KarJenners have taken a step back with their ever-growing family in mind.
As simple as that, the Kardashian-Jenner clan agreed that it was time, says Kim.
The future lawyer went on to say, “There’s so much going on that, even just for a minute, we need a break.” And that fact is indisputable. But just because it was the right time and a simple decision in the end, that doesn’t mean it wasn’t also an emotional one. Kim said that it was an “emotional day” when the family publicly announced the decision, admitting, “The tears. I was crying all weekend. It was just a really emotional decision.”
With the series coming to a close soon, there’s no time like the present for the Kardashian-Jenner family to get more real than ever before. According to the show’s original star, the final episodes will paint the family in a different, unexpected, and perhaps more honest light. Kim explained, “It was a very different side of us that I don’t think anyone’s really seen.”
Of course, there’s only one way to find out. Tune into KUWTK to see the family’s “different side” for yourself.
