Meghan Markle is opening up about the miscarriage she and Prince Harry endured in July, reports Us Weekly. She also has shed some light on how the two continue to cope as a family, a couple, and a royal spectacle in the media.

Markle’s moving op-ed, written for the New York Times, is titled “The Losses We Share.” In her heartbreaking recollection, the Duchess of Sussex discussed the day she miscarried. According to the star, it started out like any other summer day at first.

She also shared a few of the surprisingly normal tidbits from her daily life, writing that she made breakfast, fed the dogs, took vitamins, and found “that missing sock.” She continued with, “Pick up the rogue crayon that rolled under the table. Throw my hair in a ponytail before getting my son from his crib.”

From there, Meghan Markle revealed that it was when she picked up son Archie from his crib that she realized something was very wrong. Of the harrowing moment, she said that at first, she felt a sharp cramp and “dropped” to the floor, but kept humming a lullaby to keep both she and Archie calm. “I knew, as I clutched my firstborn child, that I was losing my second,” she wrote.

As noted by Us Weekly, Meghan Markle admitted that it hasn’t been easy to keep a “brave face” on while constantly being thrusted into the public eye. Still, keeping their private life private, especially while enduring “unbearable grief” has been crucial to the healing process. And the former Suits actress said she and Harry are still healing, day by day.

Reflecting on her time in the hospital with Harry by her side, Meghan wrote, “I felt the clamminess of his palm and kissed his knuckles, wet from both our tears,” adding, “Staring at the cold white walls, my eyes glazed over. I tried to imagine how we’d heal.”

We commend Markle’s bravery in sharing her story and hope that she and Prince Harry are able to get through this devastating time together.
