It seems Meghan Markle won’t be making her triumphant return to the UK this summer after all, at least if her current plans stand.
After months away from the UK, Meghan was originally expected to make her way back to the UK alongside her husband Prince Harry at the top of the new year to review their Megxit deal terms. That trip was unfortunately delayed due to safety concerns with the ongoing pandemic with Meghan and Harry instead setting their sights on returning for the Trooping of the Colour event this June.
Now it seems Meghan has decided that she’d rather stay home than accompany Harry to the UK later this year to reunite with his family for the summer’s various festivities.
According to a new report from Daily Mail, it is highly “unlikely” that Meghan will be joining Harry, leaving him to travel to meet with his family for the first time since their departure from the country last year. Should Meghan stick with her plan, Harry would be forced to fly solo at Prince Philip’s 100th birthday celebration, the Trooping of the Colour, and the unveiling of the Princess Diana statue at Kensington Palace.
Meghan Markle could create diplomatic headache with return to UK
Although Meghan will be staying home, the Daily Mail’s sources seem to make it clear that Meghan’s decision was made for personal and practical reasons rather than as a “snub” against her in-laws. That said, sources have pointed out that Meghan’s decision not to travel with Harry will help to “save royal officials something of a diplomatic headache.”

For months, royal watchers have been speculating about Meghan Markle’s plans to steal the spotlight from Queen Elizabeth with their return. With Meghan choosing to sit on the sideline and stay home with son Archie, she effectively neutralizes the situation and prevents taking the focus off of the planned events.
While things could change between now and this summer, it seems Meghan is choosing to take the high road by staying home and letting the royal family enjoy their big celebrations.
Do you think it’s best for all parties involved if Meghan Markle indeed stays home instead of traveling to the UK with Prince Harry? Would you love to see Meghan Markle return to the UK?
