One of the things many have long admired about Meghan Markle is her go-getting demeanor and the way she always tends to go after what she wants in life. It’s an admirable trait; however, it seems it’s something that might have played a role in Meghan’s struggle to acclimate herself to life as a royal.

Before becoming part of the royal family, Meghan was very much an independent woman who was use to being able to do as she pleased when she pleased. Unfortunately, within the royal family, there are countless protocols that much be followed, and approval is often required from the senior royals with Queen Elizabeth getting the final say in most instances as the top of the food chain.

The fact that in the royal family “granny rules” is something Chloe Savage, the professional embroiderer behind helping to make Meghan’s wedding dress, believes prevented Meghan from fulfilling her full potential as a royal.

“She could have carved herself an outstanding role, but I think she found the whole thing very difficult,” Savage told Insider in a new interview. “She’s always been able to do as she’s pleased when she’s pleased, and unfortunately, with the royal family, granny rules — quite simply.”

As Savage elaborated, being thrust into the royal family and forced to live with all of the rules and regulations thrust upon members of the family is something that has the ability to break an individual — particularly the limitations over what one can say or wear.

“It has broken people before,” Savage commented on the pressure and expectations placed upon royals. “I know it’s looser now than it used to be, but even then, I don’t think she was prepared for the things she could and couldn’t do, say, and wear.”

Meghan Markle ‘misjudged’ what it takes to be a royal claims insider

While Megxit took many by surprise, Savage seems to believe Meghan was set up for failure from the beginning in never receiving the proper preparations for the responsibilities and pressure that come with being a working member of the royal family.

“I think she misjudged the role,” Savage candidly confessed. “The royal family has broken people before. Kate had plenty of time to adapt and adjust to it. They gave her time, whereas Meghan sort of dived in headfirst.”

Savage’s assessment of the situation is indeed a fair one as there is no denying Meghan Markle was thrust into the royal family at a much faster pace than Kate Middleton, who had been courted by Prince William for years before they eventually exchanged I Do’s.
