The #FreeBritney movement continues to gain traction with Framing Britney Spears continuing to trend across social media and on Hulu.
Part of The New York Times Presents series, the newly released 75-minute documentary takes a close look at her father’s conservatorship first ordered back in 2008 which has given him complete control over her assets and fans’ efforts via the #FreeBritney movement aiming to terminate the conservatorship.
Since releasing on Hulu, the documentary has quickly helped to draw attention to the longstanding cause in shining a light on Britney’s battles with her father in court over who should control her life.
Like many documentaries revolving around celebrity controversies, Framing Britney Spears does not feature any first-hand accounts or comments from Britney directly. However, in a recent Twitter post, Britney seems to have finally found a way to subtly make her thoughts on the project known to the world.
What does Britney Spears think of Framing Britney Spears?
Taking to Twitter only days after the release of Framing Britney Spears, Britney celebrated the 3-year anniversary of a performance of her hit “Toxic” from her Vegas residency. In sharing the highlight with her fans, Britney seemed to subtly address the buzz surrounding the documentary in a very telling statement.
“Each person has their story and their take on other people’s stories !!!! We all have so many different bright beautiful lives !!!” Britney wrote. “Remember, no matter what we think we know about a person’s life it is nothing compared to the actual person living behind the lens.”

Although Britney never mentioned Framing Britney Spears directly in her message, it seems clear the statement was in direct response to the documentary which has thrust her into the spotlight once again.
Perhaps the most important takeaway from Britney’s response is the final line in her statement which is an important reminder that one can never fully know what is going on behind closed doors — or as Britney put it, behind the lens.
As the documentary continues to gain traction, it will be interesting to see if Britney releases a formal statement about the documentary and #FreeBritney movement. In the meantime, it seems she’s focusing on living her best life which is something we all can only hope for the Princess of Pop!
