Meghan Markle bared her heart and soul with the world when she chose to sit down to speak with Oprah Winfrey about the emotional hardships she faced while part of the Royal Family.

It was an emotional conversation in which Meghan discussed her struggle with her mental health confessing things had gotten so bad at one point she considered self-harm.

Despite her heartbreaking revelations about the hardships faced while working for the firm, Meghan still has been vilified by the UK tabloids and now it seems Lifetime is set to shamefully exploit Meghan and her mistreatment by the royal family in a new movie, Harry & Meghan: Escaping the Palace.

What will Harry & Meghan: Escaping the Palace be about?

Following the release of Harry and Meghan in 2018 and Harry and Meghan: Becoming Royal in 2019, Lifetime has announced plans for a third film based on Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s departure from the Royal Family with a focus on the drama which unfolded behind closed doors.

Harry & Meghan: Escaping the Palace is expected to pull its storyline directly from the headlines with a look at the events leading up to Meghan and Harry’s exit including Meghan’s mental health struggles and the lack of support the couple saw from the Royal Family. The film is also expected to spotlight the couple’s complicated relationships with Prince William, Kate Middleton, and Prince Charles.

While Lifetime is known for telling stories inspired by real individuals, it seems a bit shameful to capitalize on Meghan’s mistreatment and mental health. Sure, we understand the play for ratings, but the dust hasn’t yet even settled on Meghan’s bombshell interview and using her hardships seems like poor taste.

What do you think of Lifetime’s decision to make a movie focusing on the mistreatment Meghan Markle faced before stepping away from the royal family including her struggles with her mental health?
