Kim Kardashian admits she was ‘super desperate’ for fame in KUWTK reunion: ‘I just wanted to be seen’
Kim Kardashian, 40, admitted she was “super desperate” for fame on the KUWTK reunion special – “The Final Curtain Part 1,” hosted by Andy Cohen, 53, on Thursday, June 17non E! – and would have done anything to achieve it – what lengths did the SKIMS founder go to reach her goal?
Although Kim Kardashian is now a household name and has one of the worlds most famous faces in show business, thanks to 20 seasons of Keeping Up With The Kardashians and numerous lucrative deals throughout the years, the 40-year-old mom of four – North, eight, Saint, five, Chi, three and Psalm, two – admitted that there was a time when she was “super desperate” to be famous, after being in Paris Hilton’s shadow as her BFF and stylist, and getting a taste of the good life.
During the reunion special, Kim confessed to television host, Andy Cohen, the extreme lengths she would sometimes go to, in the early days of her career, to draw attention to herself.
Kim Kardashian went to extreme lengths to become famous
The 40-year-old reality star, and soon to be a qualified lawyer (depending on how her baby-bar exam goes on June 22, that is) admitted that, back in the day, she used to “pop up” in areas around LA where the paparazzi were known to be frequenting and confessed that she would do “anything” she could to draw attention to herself — even if it meant driving out of her way and making unnecessary stops, just to be photographed.
When Andy asked the SKIMS founder whether she ever called the paparazzi on herself, she confessed: “I knew exactly where they were if you wanted to be seen,” but maintained that she never called them personally.
"“Anytime I got hair and makeup for the show, there was no way I was going home and washing it off. I would stop off at Robertson. I would stop off at The Ivy and would pick up some something to go – even if it was just some bread to go. Anything! An empty bag! I would run in and pretend like I left something, like ‘Hi, did I leave my glasses here?’ I just wanted to be seen. I think I can talk about it because it’s so funny. I think people need to be more honest about those moments in life when you’re just super desperate and want that.”"
Of course, in the mid-2000s, Kim Kardashian had only just gotten a taste for fame, when she appeared on a few episodes of The Simple Life as the hotel heiress Paris Hilton’s personal assistant. But, in 2007 Kim Kardashian finally made a name for herself (although not under the best circumstance), when her sex tape, Kim Kardashian, Superstar with her then-boyfriend Ray J was released for the world to see.
And although the KKW Beauty founder “regrets” that moment and would “erase it” from existence if possible, she confessed during the KUWTK reunion special on Thursday, that had it not been for the sex tape, KUWTK would never have been the huge success it was. She told Andy:
"“That is something that I have to live with for the rest of my life. That is something that is being held over my head. I try to not live with any regrets, but it’s probably the one thing I wish didn’t exist. If I could erase any of the stupid things I’ve done in life, that’s probably it.”"
Make sure to catch The Final Curtain Part 2, which marks the end of KUWTK FOREVER, this Sunday (June 20) at 9 PM on E! hosted by Andy Cohen once more.
