Reality star and successful entrepreneur, Kim Kardashian, 40, has been living it up in Rome, Italy over the last few days and joined model, Kate Moss in a visit, and tour, around the Vatican where the SKIMS founder raised a few eyebrows with the choice of outfit she donned at the headquarters of the Roman Catholic Church.

The 40-year-old actress has been spending some time in Italy – while her ex-husband Kanye West takes their four kids on a tropical vacation – and has been sightseeing and stopping by historical landmarks all over, like the Colosseum, Trevi Fountain and St Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican City.

Kim Kardashian is known for her love of “selfies” and impromptu photoshoots so is always picture-perfect ready, but when it came to her visit to the Vatican City she sure raised some eyebrows after donning an off-the-shoulder white lace dress with daring pelvic cut-outs.  The social media connoisseur shared a few snaps from her tour with her 232 million Instagram followers and even boasted she had the opportunity to view the “private archives of robes worn by every Pope in history”.

Despite posing for some seriously glamorous pics, the KKW Beauty founder’s social media, Twitter, in particular, was flooded with criticism from many that she didn’t adhere to the strict rules of Vatican City.

After all, according to the state’s website, the holy city has a strict dress code which “promotes a modest attire and the covering of skin,” which the reality star seemed to ignore.

So Kim Kardashian made sure to reassure her fans that she had made an effort to cover up in a more respectful manner – with an oversized leather biker jacket – while inside St Peter’s Basilica and the Sistine Chapel, with a sassy add on to her post, which read: “(Don’t worry, I adhered to the dress code and fully covered up while inside St. Peter’s Basilica and the Sistine Chapel’s)”.

Kim was joined by international supermodel Kate Moss and her 18-year-old daughter Lila Grace at the Vatican.
