Gymnast McKayla Maroney explains holiday beverage in bikini

Olympic gymnast McKayla Maroney has been explaining the contents of her blue cup as she sunbathed and took in some Fourth of July sunshine over the weekend.

The 25-year-old vault queen, who posted to her lesser-known Glohé wellness Instagram, actually doubled her bikini-clad post up as a health-centric one, with the photos seeing the California native testing out a sun shield. McKayla is hugely into skincare and protecting oneself against powerful rays, and it looks like the London 2012 Olympics face had keeping hydrated on her agenda, too.

See the photos below. Maroney, making February 2021 headlines for an E.R. visit as she was diagnosed with kidney stones, appears to have made a solid recovery since being forced to return to the hospital for surgery in March. After weeks of waiting, the gymnast’s kidney stones hadn’t “budged.”

Bronzing herself on a cushioned sun chair, the GEICO face was seen showing off her gorgeous figure in a stringy and multi-tonal blue bikini, with fans definitely seeing the muscle behind the Olympian’s famous skills.

McKayla, who opened with a selfie, showed off a giant sun shield and hoop earrings while in her backyard, with the photos then showing her manicured hands holding a blue cup.

“Happy 4th of July!!!😘💙🇺🇸 Hope everyone has an amazing Holiday weekend. I’ll be putting my sun shield to the test today,” the caption read, with McKayla adding:

"“Have fun and stay safe! (That’s just water in my cup btw lol)”"

McKayla, who recently reminded fans to keep their “squats low” and their “standards high” in a post-workout shot, has been making 2021 headlines for flexing her gymnast muscles years after retirement. Earlier this year, the star was unveiled as the new promotional face of car insurance giant GEICO, with a mind-blowing video showing her back-flipping onto a roof for a frisbee save. Posting for her 1.3 million Instagram followers in May, Maroney wrote:

“I used my gymnastic skills to help get a friend’s Frisbee® off the roof and luckily it was captured on video! Now we are talking about making it into a @GEICO commercial. What do you think?”

McKayla’s wellness Instagram is followed by high-profile and fellow gymnast Aly Raisman. The main feed, meanwhile, is kept tabs on by 24-year-old superstar gymnast Simone Biles, retired gymnast Nastia Liukin, plus 23-year-old former Disney star Bella Thorne.
