Meghan Markle, 39, the former British royal, and Duchess of Sussex is going to be making a big splash in Hollywood soon with her return to the film industry! According to the reports, the mom of two – to Archie Harrison, two and Lilibet Diana, one month – is ready to get back to work and she’s jumping right in with a collaboration with the streaming giant, Netflix!

Meghan Markle back to Hollywood with Netflix deal

Though many would be disappointed to learn that the former Suits actress isn’t getting back to the industry the way we would like. Instead, according to reports Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex,- who married Prince Harry in 2018 – will create and executive produce Pearl, an animated series for Netflix.

Meghan Markle will be teaming up with Sir Elton John’s husband, David Furnish -who is responsible for other animated hits including Gnomeo & Juliet – to work on the Netflix project which follows a “12-year-old heroine who finds inspiration in influential women from history”.

Meghan Markle revealed, in an official statement posted to Archwell, that the project will see the heroin go on a “journey of self-discovery” while meeting extraordinary women, “Like many girls her age, our heroine Pearl is on a journey of self-discovery as she tries to overcome life’s daily challenges.”

She added in the statement:

"“I’m thrilled that Archewell Productions, partnered with the powerhouse platform of Netflix, and these incredible producers, will together bring you this new animated series, which celebrates extraordinary women throughout history. David Furnish and I have been eager to bring this special series to light, and I am delighted we are able to announce it today.”"

Pearl will be the second Archewell Production project announced for Netflix, which we would assume is part of the Duke and Duchess’ $100 million contract with the streaming giant, which they signed last year.

The Netflix animated series marks the latest move by Meghan Markle to produce child-friendly content; her first being a children’s book, The Bench which was released in June this year, though it seemed to have a bit of competition among readers as the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton’s book, Hold Still, was also released the same week.

So far, it is unknown as to when Pearl will be released on the streaming platform, though if Netflix and Meghan Markle are only just mentioning it, we guess that the animated series wont drop till early 2022.
