Living in the digital age comes with tons of adorable filters like a puppy face filter or a flower crown filter. However, it seems that the general consensus is that these filters shouldn’t be used in promotional videos for one’s cosmetics brand or fashion line; doing so is rather misleading and could encourage a beauty standard that is near impossible to achieve. This could explain why Kylie Jenner is under fire once again.

The reality TV star is working overtime to deliver a new and improved Kylie Cosmetics with environmentally conscious products, a brand new look, and of course, some brand new makeup products, but while working on some new content, she mistakenly made a big no-no and fans are calling her out for it.

Kylie Jenner called out for new makeup video

On her Instagram Story, Kylie Jenner thoroughly went through all of her upcoming products that included a shimmery body powder, a gorgeous eyeshadow palette, and some new shades of her famous matte lip gloss. The celeb decided to continue this candidness with a behind-the-scenes look at her new makeup video, which is where fans noticed that she was using a face filter.

You can see the video of the malfunctioning filter here.

Reddit fans simply weren’t having it especially when they considered the fact that if the filter never glitched, they wouldn’t have known there was one in the first place.

“So instead of her features below the nose sloping down and inward, the filter makes her lips and chin stick out evenly creating a straight line down,” one Redditor commented. “So weird. Interesting but she so clearly doesn’t look the way she looks in photos she posts but sometimes it’s hard to tell exactly why/what’s different.”

Others went on to echo society’s current issue with celebs using these video edits for their cosmetic brands, expressing that such a thing “defeats the purpose” and tricks consumers into buying something that can’t be bought.

Though everyone seems to agree that the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star made an unforgivable mistake, there are a few who believe that a face filter isn’t a big deal especially when they remember the fact that Kylie Jenner also has to live up to extreme beauty standards just like everyone else—and we have to agree.

Kylie Jenner’s makeup has garnered plenty of success because of how beautiful it makes people feel regardless of any insecurities. Beauty filter or not, the overarching theme is that everyone should feel comfortable in their skin, and if using a filter is the way that Jenner feels good about herself, then we simply have to let her be.
