Van Jones responds to ‘flattering’ Kim Kardashian dating rumors

Now that it’s been confirmed Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are not getting back together, fans quickly turned their attention to the next best option in hopes that the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star eventually finds true love again.

The next best option goes by the name of Van Jones and this esteemed celeb has certainly been both platonically and romantically linked to the reality star before, which explains why shipping him with Kim Kardashian comes naturally for fans. And while it’s easy to imagine the two together in love, the imagination didn’t seem to translate too well in real life as Kardashian has denied these dating rumors before. But in all this denying of romance gossip, we never got to hear what Van Jones had to say about the hearsay–until now.

Page Six reports that the political commentator doesn’t support these rumors, believing that the romantic linking of him and the KKW Beauty founder is a little ridiculous.

“I never made any comments about the rumors of me and Kim Kardashian dating as I found it absurd,” Jones bluntly stated before adding, “It was flattering for me, but it probably wasn’t flattering for her.”

It’s possible that Jones perceived these comments to be unflattering for Kardashian because the rumors were circulating around the same time the reality star was going through an extremely rough patch with her soon-to-be ex-husband Kanye West. The two were not even on speaking terms at one point.

In addition to this particular rough patch, Kim Kardashian has stated before that her sole focus is on her family and her career, not really wanting to add a relationship to her ever-growing list of responsibilities. With all this in mind, it’s evident that Van Jones was (and is) simply being cognizant of the trials and tribulations that his good friend is going through, and we can’t help but to stan a man who stands up for his colleague.

It has also been reported that Jones loves to assist Kardashian with studying for her baby bar exam and is more of a mentor for the aspiring lawyer, so it’s possible that something more can come out of this mentor-mentee relationship in the future. But, for now, we’ll have to keep on imagining.
