Now that the hype of the 2021 Met Gala has started to die down, celebrities are taking time to give props to the designers of their stunning outfits as well as explain their daring looks and the inspiration behind them.

An explanation is, without a doubt, needed for enthusiasts of this famous event because we had a fair share of looks that didn’t quite hit the mark of the theme of this year’s Met Gala–In America: A Lexicon of Fashion.

Kim Kardashian is certainly one of these celebs who many are dying for some sort of a breakdown because they couldn’t quite understand how exactly dressing in all black pays homage to American culture. Thankfully, the gracious celebrity understood that there were many who needed a bit more clarification which is why she took to her social media to give some insight.

Kim Kardashian’s Met Gala look explained

The Keeping Up With the Kardashians star recently posted a picture on her Instagram of her look from Monday night and the flick was accompanied by the caption, “What’s more American than a T-shirt head to toe?” See the picture with over 5 million likes and hundreds of thousands of comments below.

Though this caption may have helped many interpret the outfit, for some, it still didn’t make too much sense. To help with the lingering confusion (and as a last-ditch effort), Kim Kardashian reposted an opinion written by Bryan Boy, a social media influencer. Boy had this to say about the Balenciaga masked look on his Instagram:

"The extremity and the simplicity. A black t-shirt (a very American invention), a shroud and a train. The power of making yourself known while disguising yourself. Genius. Pure brilliance."

Upon this explanation, we believe, that lovers of Met Gala may have finally understood what Demna Gvasalia, Balenciaga’s creative director and Kim Kardashian’s plus one, may have been trying to get across. The outfit was, for many fans, pure brilliance, and we can’t wait to see how this Kardashian will stunt at the next event!
