When it was announced that Kim Kardashian would be hosting an episode of Saturday Night Live, her fans were delighted while her haters were extremely angry. Many people wondered how the reality star landed the gig when she isn’t an actor or a musician, and she wasn’t there to promote any new projects.

Actress Debra Messing even took shots at Kim on Twitter, admitting the mom-of-four is a “cultural icon,” but expressing she didn’t understand why she would be hosting SNL. This was a common reaction seen on the internet, but fortunately for Kim, she truly did a great job last weekend and her episode was a hit!

Kim proved the naysayers wrong by poking fun at herself and her family during the SNL episode on Oct. 9, opening up with a particularly edgy monologue where she joked about her divorce from Kanye West and much, much more.

And it looks like we now have the numbers to prove Kim did a wonderful job and attracted a huge audience!

Kim Kardashian Saturday Night Live ratings

According to Deadline, the ratings for Saturday Night Live rose on Oct. 9 with Kim hosting and Halsey performing as the musical guest, seeing 5.3 million viewers Live+Same Day. The premiere of SNL season 47 drew in a record low, and fortunately, numbers were back up a week later. Kim’s power!

Reportedly, Kim’s episode did better via streaming than on television, understandably, and her skits posted on the SNL YouTube channel did impressive numbers as well.

It’s safe to say Kim did a stellar job hosting Saturday Night Live for her hosting debut, and we can’t help but wonder what the haters had to say once they actually saw some of her performances. Though she’s certainly not an actress, the fact that she was open to making fun of herself and going along with ridiculous skits was awesome to see.

You can stream Kim Kardashian‘s episode of SNL on Hulu right now.
