Why fans are divided over this new Met Gala video of Kim Kardashian and Pete Davidson

Following the release of a video showing Kim Kardashian and Pete Davidson getting ready for the 2022 Met Gala, fans pointed out how Kardashian can be a tad “controlling” towards her Saturday Night Live boyfriend.

In the new video, Davidson is seen wearing two hats on top of one another. Kardashian asks him to remove one of the hats just in case she films a behind-the-scenes video of her Met Gala preparation. She didn’t want her audience to be confused about why Davidson was wearing two hats.

“I’m just looking out for you,” Kim Kardashian told Pete Davidson, to which he replied, “No, it’s cool.”

Though most fans believed that this was a heartfelt moment between the two, showcasing how well their different personalities complement one another, to some, the video was quite the opposite.

Page Six reports Kim Kardashian is being called out by fans for projecting the way Kanye West treated her on Pete Davidson.

When West and Kardashian first started dating, Kardashian noted how West wasn’t the biggest fan of her wardrobe and believed he should have a say in the types of clothes she wears. Years later, Kardashian’s style is still heavily influenced by West despite the two separating last year. The 41-year-old socialite even went so far as to say she’s struggling to find her place “in the fashion world” now that she doesn’t have West telling her what she should and should not wear.

With her past marriage in mind, fans are worried that the same dynamic will be transferred to Pete Davidson and Kim Kardashian’s relationship, and fear that they are witnessing the beginning stages of a controlling relationship in which Davidson can’t openly express himself through his attire.

“I don’t get where everybody [is] saying they look so in love. Every time she’s invalidating him,” one fan commented on the video. Another comment held the same sentiments, stating, “As usual she is just image-obsessed.” One fan even theorized, “She [likes] him because she can control him.”

Conversely, some believe that Kim Kardashian doesn’t mean any harm by telling Pete Davidson to remove his hat.

“I think they are very good together,” one fan commented. “Leave them. [Let them] enjoy one another and see what it grows into. Quit judging them.”

As of now, it’s difficult to say what the overall consensus is regarding this video. Is Kim Kardashian controlling, or is she simply being a doting girlfriend? Only time will tell where we land.
