It looks like Kim Kardashian damaged Marilyn Monroe’s dress and people are really mad

Kim Kardashian is in scolding hot water following the reveal of some pertinent information we’ve all been waiting to hear–the condition of Marilyn Monroe’s iconic dress after the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star decided to wear it for this year’s Met Gala.
Before the result of the dress, the public expressed their disapproval of the celebrity going so far as to tamper with an important piece of American history solely for a night of fashion. The rage was so widespread that art conservators came forward to scold both Kardashian and Ripley’s Believe It Or Not, the museum that lent the celebrity the dress.
“Historic garments should not be worn by anybody, public or private figures,” the Internal Council of Museums (ICOM) stated. “Prevention is better than cure. Wrong treatment will destroy an object forever.”
In addition to ICOM’s statement, Bob Mackie, the talented designer of the dress, also feared that the dress would never be the same, hence why he didn’t hesitate to call Kim Kardashian out for her huge mistake.
Mackie stated:
"I thought it was a big mistake. [Marilyn] was a goddess. A crazy goddess, but a goddess. She was just fabulous. Nobody photographs like that. And it was done for her. It was designed for her. Nobody else should be seen in that dress."
Now we’ve seen reports that Marilyn Monroe’s dress, an elegant gown that was carefully made for her and her only, is allegedly ruined.
Did Kim Kardashian ruin Marilyn Monroe’s dress?
The New York Post reports that, while Marilyn Monroe’s dress isn’t in tatters, Kim Kardashian did do a number on the dress. Namely, wear and tears on the backside and a few crystals peeling off or being completely gone.
Take a look at this shocking before and after picture of Marilyn Monroe’s dress here.
This damage doesn’t come as a shocker to anyone as Kardashian admitted that she couldn’t fit into the dress as Monroe’s figure was much smaller than hers. The reality TV star had to go as far as using a white fur shawl to cover up the back of the dress on the Met Gala’s red carpet since the zipper never properly closed on her body.
As expected, Kardashian’s sacrifices to fit into the dress weren’t worth it as the dress was the only thing that paid the price in the end. Now, people are rightfully upset.
“The fault is on both of sides,” a fan stated on Twitter. “Kim should respect marilyn’s wish and never worn original dress. Also someone messed up cos the dress should have never been borrowed to kim.”
To this day, Kim Kardashian never exactly came forward with an apology to Bob Mackie, art conservators, or the many people who believe she was in the wrong. Maybe this will change soon? Stay tuned to find out.
