Kim Kardashian catches heat for her new comments about climate change

Kim Kardashian finally addressed the backlash surrounding her and her family’s contribution to certain climate disasters such as the water shortage in California and the extreme air pollution due to the overuse of private jets, but that doesn’t mean everyone is letting her off easy.

BuzzFeed News reports that fans aren’t very happy about how Kardashian doubled down on her responsibility in the overwhelming changes in the world’s climate. Rather than admit that, in some ways, she has been a part of the problem and list ways in which she will reduce her carbon footprint on the world, she believed that fans should be more “realistic” in what they expect from her.

Kim Kardashian defends her overuse of private jets and water

During her sit-down with Interview Magazine, Kim Kardashian was asked about many of her recent controversies, including the drama involving her brand-new “climate criminal” title.

When probed about her perspective on climate change as well as the way she can help reverse the disastrous effects, Kardashian stated:

"I believe in climate change, and I believe that anything can help. But I also believe in being realistic and I think sometimes there’s so much to worry about on this planet, and it can be really scary to live your life with anxiety. I have super climate change–involved friends, and I love learning from them. I do what I can, but you have to pick and choose what really works for you in your life. No one’s going to be 100 percent perfect."

While her sentiments regarding how there is no one-size-fits-all way to approach global warming and air pollution are valid, fans see this as Kardashian not owning up to what she could do better for the environment.

“Kim absolutely does not ‘do what I can’ when she owns a private jet, has masses amount of influence but barely speaks on climate change,” one Reddit user stated. “Honestly the things she could do that could actually make a change would be incredible considering she’s a billionaire and a very well known celebrity. She’s not even doing the bare minimum.”

“She just has to have a perfect green lawn. You don’t know the anxiety of brown grass, guys!!!!” another user joked.

With even more backlash to sift through, it’s clear that Kim Kardashian is going to do a lot more than address the problem to appease the public. The real question is, will she do what she has to do or do what she wants to do?
