While everyone else is out trick-or-treating with their loved ones, Kendall Jenner is swatting away backlash left and right.

The Daily Mail reports that the model has come under fire after many felt her Halloween costume was insensitive. However, for Kendall Jenner’s die-hard fans, this couldn’t be any farther from the truth, as they believe the public is overreacting to something everyone does for Halloween.

Perhaps you’ll take a side in the matter. But first, let’s fill you in on the reasoning behind the backlash.

Fans don’t like Kendall Jenner’s Toy Story Halloween costume

The Daily Mail discovered that the issue stemmed from Kendall Jenner’s recent Instagram post. In the picture, she is dressed as Toy Story‘s Jessie. But with a few alterations here and there to make her outfit suited to her desires, it seems Jenner turned the adorable character everyone knows and loves turned into one that no one recognized.

See Kendall Jenner’s post here.

“Why sexualize cowgirl Jessie like that,” one comment read. “This is ridiculous. It’s Halloween, and you’re sexualizing a child’s character.”

There were plenty of other comments that held the same sentiment. But there were just as many comments who believed that people are giving the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star way too much flack.

“They’re not forced to view her page. The world doesn’t revolve around other people’s children,” one user wrote. Another used agreed, stating, “I think it’s sad y’all are complaining about her sexualizing this character like we don’t sexualize EVERY character every halloween. cats are sexualized, nurses are sexualized, cops are sexualized…..it’s freakin halloween. relax.”

Naturally, we can’t help but point out that Halloween is a holiday in which everyone alters their costume to their liking. Whether that’s making the costume more provocative or more terrifying shouldn’t matter; everyone should be free to dress how they want. Because of this, we emphasize Kendall Jenner’s belief that the public has created an image of the celebrity that is highly inaccurate.

“There [are] so many false narratives,” Jenner stated on the Jay Setty Podcast. “So many people think they have you figured out when they don’t even know the half of it. It can feel really unfair because that is not who I am. That can really get to me sometimes and that really sucks. But then looking at myself in the mirror and being like I know who I am, so why does anything else matter?”

Hopefully, after learning what all the fuss is about, you’ve concluded that Jenner’s recent controversy is, as she would say, “unfair.” Perhaps not. Either way, there’s no denying it–Kendall Jenner has gotten everyone’s attention yet again.
