The Kardashians snags Best Docu-Reality at MTV Movie and TV Awards
The Kardashians won a significant award at the MTV Movie and TV Awards over the weekend. During the pre-taped show on May 7th, the family took home the “Best Docu-Reality Series” award for their Hulu show, The Kardashians.
Upon receiving the Golden Popcorn statue, Kim Kardashian took to Twitter to thank the fans who had voted.
“We’re so grateful. Thank you so much for everyone who voted!!!” The media queen wrote to her 75+ million followers and the world on Sunday night.
Her sister Khloé penned her unique “thank you” on the platform.
“Thank you guys all so much for voting for us!! Love you all! @hulu @kardashianshulu @MTVAwards.”
The series had some fierce competition against them, but the Kar-Jenner clan remained strong. In case you are wondering who they were up against, the other nominees were:
- Real Housewives of Beverly Hills (Bravo)
- Vanderpump Rules (Bravo)
- Jersey Shore: Family Vacation (MTV)
- Family Reunion: Love and Hip-Hop Edition (VH1)
After wrapping up their long-running E! Network series, Keeping Up with the Kardashians, in 2021, the family moved their brand to the Disney Company, which owns the streamer Hulu. One reason for the transition was to update how their fans viewed their show. According to Khloé, per Variety, technology was a major contributing factor.
“We wanted to be with someone that’s tech-forward, so we’re with the times,” Khloé tells the outlet. “For us to be still on cable was just not so on brand for us.”
In the first two seasons of The Kardashians, fans witnessed some pivotal moments in the family’s lives. One such example is the arrival of Khloé’s son, who is nearly nine months old. Another is the wedding prep for Kourtney and blink-182 drummer Travis Barker. The couple, celebrating their first anniversary later this month, had their special highlighting their three weddings. It premiered on April 13th on Hulu.
The third season drops May 25th and promises to be packed with drama but plenty of family support. There will also be personal struggles and rifts between specific family members.
As Scott Disick said in the season three teaser,
“I’ve never seen this much drama in my life.”
