Kourtney Kardashian gives update on her health and baby
Kourtney Kardashian was rushed to the hospital last Friday (September 1st) for a medical emergency concerning her baby. Her husband, Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker, flew immediately home from the UK leg of his band’s international tour to be at his wife’s side.
As it turned out, the Poosh founder underwent urgent fetal surgery to save her unborn son. Luckily, Kourtney’s hospital stay was short-lived, as she walked out Sunday afternoon, and her family was there to provide comfort during the horrifying ordeal.
When she felt comfortable, the mom-to-be took a moment on Instagram on Wednesday to share her story and thanked her mother, Kris Jenner, and Travis for being there for her. In the black-and-white photo, she holds hands with Travis, with an IV inserted into her arm.
“I will be forever grateful to my incredible doctors for saving our baby’s life. I am eternally grateful to my husband, who rushed to my side from [the] tour to be with me in the hospital and take care of me afterward, my rock. And to my mom, thank you for holding my hand through this,” Kourtney began the caption.
“As someone who has had three really easy pregnancies in the past, I wasn’t prepared for the fear of rushing into urgent fetal surgery. I don’t think anyone who hasn’t been through a similar situation can begin to understand that feeling of fear. I have a whole new understanding and respect for the mamas who have had to fight for their babies while pregnant. Praise be to God. Walking out of the hospital with my baby boy in my tummy and safe is the truest blessing 🙏🏻🤍.”
Additionally, Travis gave his word of gratitude on the same day through X, formerly known as Twitter.
“God is great. I flew home for a life-threatening emergency surgery for our baby that I’m so grateful went well. I want to say “thank you” for all the support. [The] tour resumes [on] Friday.”
Kourtney first announced her pregnancy in June, which was succeeded by her gender reveal party. She wore a baby blue dress and white open-toed heeled sandals for the special occasion. Since she first started dating Travis, the Lemme founder desired to have a child with him. The couple underwent a difficult IVF journey, and Kourtney stopped the treatments in late 2022.
While it was heartbreaking, she and Travis placed their faith in God; whatever happens, it’s God’s plan.
On a more light-hearted note, Travis and his band have been nominated for “Best Alternative” song for their 2022 hit, “Edging,” at the 2023 MTV VMAs. The ceremony will air on Tuesday, September 12th.
