Kim Kardashian tries to warm up with Choupette on The Kardashians
In The Kardashians‘ latest episode, Kim Kardashian attempts to warm up with Choupette, the late Karl Lagerfeld’s cat. But did the fluffy feline accept Kim’s welcome?
In the recent episode that dropped on Hulu on Thursday, Kim continues her European soccer tour with her oldest son, Saint. While Saint enjoys the Paris team, Saint Germain, she finds her way into the Chanel fashion house, where she’s greeted by no other than Choupette, the late Karl Lagerfeld’s cat. The German-French designer left behind a fashion legacy and his beloved blue-eyed Birman.
Kim wants Choupette as her date for the 2023 Met Gala, as the theme was “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty.” What better way to go on theme than to go with Lagerfeld’s most precious treasure?
“I have a little meeting with Choupette, Karl Lagerfeld’s cat, because Choupette is supposed to be my data to the Met [Gala],” Kim reveals in the episode. “I wanna spend some time with her, get to know [and] see if we vibe.”
The SKIMS founder met Choupette up close and experienced some one-on-one time with the famous cat. Choupette, however, was not feeling Kim’s warm intentions.
“I get what an honor it is to bring his baby, Choupette,” Kim reflects in her confessional. “I think Choupette is playing hard to get. Maybe she just has to warm up, you know?”
As Kim continues her interaction with the cat, Choupette gets aggressive with the reality star, making the latter realize that Choupette may not be the ideal date.
“Choupette is really key to my whole vibe for the Met this year, so if we don’t vibe, I don’t know what I’m gonna do. I just hope she warms up to me, [be]cause this wouldn’t be cute,” reveals Kim.
Cats are naturally cautious of strangers, and Choupette’s behavior towards Kim and her camera crew was understandable. As a former cat owner, my calico ran hot and cold towards people, as did my male white American Shorthair; they were doing “cat things.”
But they were great cats.
Did Kim Kardashian attend the Met with Choupette?
As it turns out, Choupette didn’t wind up as Kim’s date for the big fashion event, which meant she had to go solo.
“So I’m getting a little bit nervous and I think I just fully wanna pivot. There’s so many factors I think could be negative, especially with the cameras and the people,” Kim says following her meeting with the Birman. “Even if she’s scared from the cameras and not me. I don’t know if it’s fair to Choupette, so I think I realized really quickly that, Choupette, we’re not a match, so I’m not bringing her to the Met.”
Despite not bringing the famous cat, Kim still had fun at the Gala, where she wore a custom white gown crafted with pearls and crystals.
