A The Kardashians spinoff is coming to Hulu (and what to know)

It's about to get even more raw and real.

The Kardashians on Hulu is expanding their franchise, as the family has signed a new deal with Disney. Spinoffs and the rollout of new media ventures have been ongoing since the early seasons of Keeping Up With the Kardashians. We had the sisters traveling to various US cities to open up new DASH Boutiques (DASH closed in 2018), and Khloé guiding others in their fitness and wellness journeys, to name a few.

With Kim and her family being major money makers for the company and vice versa, a new spinoff of The Kardashians was a natural move. Khloé will further extend her executive producer role, as she'll have authority over the upcoming series.

It'll be slightly angled from the familiar landscape of the Kardashians media empire, but not at less extravagant.

Hulu will have this change in the new The Kardashians spinoff

It was during the Hulu Gets Real Presentation that Rob Mills, the Reality Chief at Disney, and Khloé announced the new spinoff. While much of the Kardashian shows have focused on well, the Kardashians and Jenners, the cameras will pivot to their neighbors in their upscale Calabasas neighborhood. The premise will allow the audience to learn more about the people who are acquainted with the famous family and how they view them from their perspective.

"We all want to know what's happening behind the gates of Calabasas—who are all these people in the extended lives of the Kardashians?" says Mills. "So, we're developing a show that we're actually, at least for now, calling [it] Calabasas Behind the Gates."

Calabasas Behind the Gates sounds like major bombs and secrets might be dropped, unveiling its shadows beyond the opulence of the community. Or the series could reflect positivity on the Kardashians. The only way to know for sure is to watch it ourselves when Calabasas premieres. At the time of this writing, no date has been set.

Khloé, for her part, didn't further elaborate on the show's details at the Hulu event or who will be part of the cast roster. However, she did share her feelings about the project

"It's very exciting, very new, very excellent. We're excited to continue developing."

The Good American also was asked whether her younger brother Rob will have an appearance in Calabasas or The Kardashians, since he has stepped away from the cameras.

Season 6 of The Kardashians finalized earlier this month on the streamer, with everyone celebrating Kim's birthday. As far as we know, season 7 is currently filming and is rumored to stream later this year, although it's not official.
