You might think Brody Jenner's rise to fame is being a member of the Kardashian-Jenner family, and you'd be correct, as he's the second son of Olympian Caitlyn Jenner (pre-transition). and her second wife, Linda Thompson. Through Caitlyn's third marriage with Kris Jenner, Brody became a half-brother to Kendall and Kylie Jenner, who became successful businesswomen in the fashion and liquor industries.
Brody has appeared alongside Kendall and Kylie in E!'s long-running reality show, Keeping Up With The Kardashians. In 2006, he became part of the main cast of the MTV hit reality show The Hills. The two series pelted the young actor into stardom, and while Brody appreciated the attention, he also wanted to be something outside of those environments.
Per an interview with Bustle, the 41-year-old from Malibu, California, disclosed that one of his passions is deejaying, or a DJ. The talent's overshadowed, as people only view Brody as that dude from The Hills, which is frustrating because it projects a critical typecast.
He says the following regarding the complication between The Hills and his musical skills:
"People are still like, ‘Wait, you DJ?’ People only want to think of me as Brody from The Hills; they don’t ever want to think that I do anything else, so that can be frustrating sometimes. There’s a lot of things that I can do."
Brody also credits becoming a father to daughter, Honey Raye, with his fiancé, professional surfer Tia Blanco. The milestone life moment changed him, as he desired to be a strong father figure, as opposed to his own, while growing up. Once Caitlyn married Kris, Brody, his older brother, Brandon, and his two other half-siblings from his father's first marriage were left in the shadows.
To make his stance on fatherhood, Brody declares that time is essential.
"My life just revolves around my daughter. I think you can work yourself to death. But now that I’ve had a daughter, I want to make more time to be there for her, especially at this time in her life."
Where Brody Jenner stands with the Kardashians and his sisters Kendall and Kylie
Brody has no bad beef with the Kardashian family or his sisters, Kendall and Kylie. Per the podcast, The Viall Files, he shared that he got together with his former step-siblings and Kendall for Caitlyn's 75th birthday in October. The family doesn't always have the time to get together due to their busy lives, but when they do, they try to make it special.
"I love [them] all to death. I just don't see them. Kim's busy, Kourtney's busy. I got to see them recently for Caitlyn's [my dad's] birthday. We went over to Kylie's house. Kylie, unfortunately, wasn't there [as] she was traveling back from New York, but they're all busy. Everybody's busy [with] doing their thing. We didn't grow up in the same household, so it's not like it's any different. But, when we do see each other, it's like no time has passed."
However, there's an argument that Brody wants to settle, and that's if he is a "trust fund kid" just because his dad is Caitlyn, which thrust him into the Kardashian landscape. But just because he's no longer fully attached doesn't mean he doesn't want to try a fun perk of Kylie's, as he mentioned to Bustle.
"It’s funny that people think that, because, first off, my dad [Caitlyn] never gave any child support. It wasn’t like we were getting any money from the Kardashians ever… Kendall and Kylie are my sisters. We have the same last name, but we don’t share a bank account. I don’t get to go on [Kylie's] pink jet, though I would love to. "
