This past Thursday, June 12th Khloé Kardashian dives deeply into conversation on her podcast Khloé in Wonderland' with eye lash mogul turned business woman, Yris Palmer to unveil a story of grit, faith, and inspiration. The two women weave a conversation around Palmer's story of growth from sharing a two bedroom apartment with several different Salvadorian family members, getting her first job at 15, and eventually ending up doing Kylie Jenner's eyelashes.
From humble beginnings to iconic inspiration for all women, but especially Latinas!
Yris Palmer does not shy away from where she comes from, but rather leans into hardships and challenges earlier in life to fuel her work ethic, passion, and purpose. Khloé creates a safe space to put the spot light on Yris during this week's podcast. We learn about Yris's Salvadorian roots, her father's work ethic, and the desire to launch herself from this situation into a space where financial freedom is possible. In many ways Yris symbolizes everything that is supposed to be the American dream without separating herself from her cultural and ethnic background. The quote of the day from Yris is this:
"The women at the top are collaborating, not competing."
Share your wisdom and opportunities by lending a hand to other women
Bar none the most important take away from this podcast was to listen to these two very successful women discussing the need to move away from a mind set of competition with other women to collaborating with them. Yris talks to Khloé about how at pivotal moments in her private and business life there was always a moment where a woman reached her hand out to share financial advise, business space, and opportunities and that because of this she realizes that we, as women need to collaborate rather than compete. Yris' steps may have included a job offer to do the eye lashes of Selena Gomez for $500, and a call from Kylie Jenner, but the same principle holds true for those not living among the celebrities. Perhaps we all need to ask how we can help rather than looking for how we can compete, or worse put another woman down.
Diversify your investments for long lasting wealth
Between laughter, and an intimate connection about living by faith these two women emphasize the importance of diversifying your investments in order to sustain wealth. This is not a topic that is taught in school (though it probably should be), but it is important to remember the difference between being met with opportunity, and turning this opportunity into long lasting wealth. Yris discusses the moment she realizes that something could happen to her hands and as an eyelash expert this could be devastating, obviously. From that moment she tells the viewers about how she decided to start saving her earnings until she had $100 000 to invest into a laser hair removal machine. She then goes on to emphasis that she has continued to invest her money broadly so that if one avenue of income collapses there is always a nest egg somewhere else. Yris explains to Khloé how much she hopes to be an inspiration to other Latina women and the importance of not just having money but being smart with your money.
As always, Khloé definitely delivers on this podcast, and we can't wait to see who is up next to join her on that cozy white couch. Keep up with everything Kardashian and more right here on Kardashian Dish!
