Kim Kardashian has made it to the finish line regarding her law school journey, and she and her family couldn't be more proud of her achievements. The journey took six years to complete, with 5,184 hours of studying, 18 hours a week over a 48-week period. On top of earning her credentials, Kim also balanced work commitments, being a mother, advocating for justice, and a social life.
The SKIMS founder didn't take the traditional route of getting her law degree. Instead of enrolling without having a 4-year undergraduate degree, she underwent an apprenticeship program in 2018. As such, Kim had to take the Baby Bar, or First Year Exam, before continuing with the program. After three failures, she passed the exam in 2021.
California is one of three states where a person can participate in legal studies in a law office or judge's chambers under the Law Office Study Program. It takes four years to complete, and once a person meets the requirements and passes, they can take the Bar Exam to become a licensed and practicing attorney.
Kim has a party to celebrate her law school accomplishments
On Wednesday, May 21, Kim's family held a private graduation ceremony in Beverly Hills, which her sisters, Kourtney and Khloé, and her kids attended. The mother of four had no idea about the surprise but was over the moon when bestowed with it. She was dressed in a gray turtleneck, black skirt, tights, and contrasting white pumps as she watched her mentor give her speech. It was a big day for Kim, and she could not have done it without strict commitments.
"I finally graduated law school after six years!!!" Kim wrote in her Instagram Stories.
Khloé recorded the on-stage commencement, with the mentor, Jessica Jackson, articulating the following words:
"It's an absolute honor to stand here today, not just as mentors, but as witnesses to one of the most inspiring legal journeys we've ever seen. Six years ago, Kim Kardashian walked into this program with nothing but a fierce desire to fight for justice. No law school lectures, no ivory tower shortcuts, just determination and a mountain of case log books to read."
Jackson additionally highlighted how Kim managed to tackle her law goals while raising children and working nonstop with her several endeavors. The certificate attainment is yet another goal made and with passion.
"Over the course of this program, Kim has dedicated 18 hours a week, 48 weeks a year for six straight years. That's a total of 5,184 hours of legal study; that's time she carved out while raising four children, running businesses, filming television shows, and [appearing] in courtrooms to advocate for others."
Afterwards, Kim put on a chocolate-colored graduation cap adorned with a gold 2025 charm. Her kids, Chicago and Palm West, were dressed as little lawyers themselves, with the latter taking inspiration from the late Robert Kardashian in a tan suit.
All of you guys have been on this journey with me," Kim says at the podium though her Instagram Stories.
Kim then showed off the party's decor, which included placemats created by her 3x5 study cards and peach florals. The reality star then reshares a fan's collage with the inscription, "Kim finally graduated law school after six years."
In March, she took the Multistate Professional Responsibility Exam, and passed it. It's a critical component to become an attorney, and in every state except Wisconsin, must adhere to it.
