Kim Kardashian steps out at the 2024 Met Gala in a sweet sweater look

Kim Kardashian looked like a princess out of a fairytale when she attended the 2024 Met Gala in New York City. The annual May event, which is held at the Metropolitan of Art, had the theme of "Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion." Appropriately so, Kim dressed to align with the theme.

For her Red Carpet appearance, Kim teamed up with the French fashion house Maison Margiela to create a custom gown exclusively for the occasion. The floor-length dress is crafted in shimmering sheer silver rose floral lace, encrusted in crystals and pearls, a corseted waist, and a plunging sweetheart neckline. Kim chose a soft grey cardigan as an accessory, which may have confused some social media users, but I think it looked splendid with the gown.

Her go-to hairstylist, Chris Appleton, colored her naturally dark locks a platinum blonde shade, while Kim's glam squad gave her a rosy-pink cheek, soft doe silvery eyes, and a nude lip. The makeup used was most likely from the SKKN Makeup line, a collection of neutral and subdued colors that complement everyone's skin tone.

It's one of Kim's best Met Gala fashions to date, as she has been going to it since 2013. You might recall she wore a floral dress then, too, and was pregnant with North at the time. While the piece wasn't the most captivating of the night, despite being a Givenchy original, it became a pop culture fixture in recent years. Kim's older sister, Kourtney Kardashian Barker, wore the dress for Halloween in 2023, days before she gave birth to Rocky Barker.

Because of that, the dress that Kim wore has a special family connection.

Prior to the Met Gala, Kim uploaded her entire look on Instagram, and credited her team who helped pieced it together.

The reality star captions her multi-slide carousel with "MARGIELA BY JOHN GALLIANO MET 2024 📷 NICK KNIGHT." The latter is the photographer of the set, and he worked with Kim previously for her 2024 SKIMS Swim line.

The custom gown was beautiful, but with beauty, sometimes, it poses an issue or two. Since Kim's dress was figure-forming and offered little stretch, she had assistance climbing up the stairs that the museum is known for. But the Met is only once a year, so why not?
