Taylor Swift is a "freund" of Germany, and the singer hasn't even arrived yet! Ahead of her ERAS Tour stops in "The Land of Chocolate" in mid-July, Karin Welge, the mayor of Gelsenkirchen, announced that the town would undergo a temporary name change. It's just a small token to honor the multi-Grammy winner. Still, you can guarantee that there'll be explosive cheering from Swifties, not only in Germany but from all corners of the globe, as fans will be making travel arrangements to see Taylor perform in concert.

I've never been to a Taylor Swift concert myself, but from what I've seen online, her ERAS movie, and heard from friends who have attended, she puts on a spectacular performance and thanks all the attendees who make it to her shows. A couple even got engaged at the Edinburgh, Scotland concert recently. And much to the Swifties' shock, Taylor's boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, joined her onstage during the London show on June 23rd.

Taylor is currently in the midst of the European leg of the ERAS Tour, and before she stops in Germany, she'll be arriving in Amsterdam from July 4th through the 6th.

This Western German town will be renaming it to a more Taylor Swift vibe

Taylor's set to perform two shows on July 17th through the 19th in the German town of Gelsenkirchen and its officials and citizens have big plans for her arrival. First, Mayor Welge announced that the town's name would be changed to "Swiftkerchen" in honor of the singer. That's not all, though. According to Gelsenkirchen's website, Swifties are in for fun surprises, such as an "open-air" party named Taylor Town, where fans can pick up Taylor merch, perform karaoke, and even get tattoos. It'll be the perfect spot for the Swifties who can't attend any of the "Swiftkirchen" shows, and Welge wanted everyone to enjoy the mesmerizing experience.

The top gem of the Swiftkirchen celebration will be Taylor's name set on a stone for the town's Walk of Fame. Take a note Hollywood as Germany's ahead of its fame game.

Per the website, Welge voiced her excitement of Taylor's upcoming arrival.

"As mayor, I am of course, very happy that Taylor Swift, currently the most successful singer in the world, will be performing three times in Gelsenkirchen. The international attention will be on our city again immediately after EURO 2024."
