Taylor Swift wins big at the 2024 IHeartRadio Music Awards
There's no better moment for Taylor Swift than when she brings home an award for her groundbreaking music. This time, she was the reigning queen at the 2024 iHeartRadio Music Awards, winning six of the nine nominations. Yet, the "Cruel Summer" singer remained humble when she received the awards.
As we mentioned, Taylor was nominated in nine categories and won five, including Album of the Year. The others were Pop Artist of the Year, Favorite Tour Style, Tour of the Year, Best Lyrics, and TikTok Bop of the Year. She was up against other talented artists, such as Billie Eilish and Doja Cat, the former having written "What Am I Made For" for the comedy Barbie.
As she couldn't attend this year's awards, which rapper Ludacris hosted, Taylor thanked her for her Artist of the Year via a pre-recorded video message. The iconic heart and soundwave statue was presented by N*SYNC's Lance Bass and Backstreet Boys' AJ McLean, legendary artists in their own rights.
"Hey! I wanted to say 'thank you so much' to anyone who voted for this award. iHeart, you've also been so incredibly supportive over the course of my entire career, but especially this year has been pretty spectacular," Taylor acknowledges to her Swifties and the crowd. "I'm so grateful for that. You know, to the fans, it's completely up to you to choose how you spend your time, what concerts you want to go to, what music you want to make the soundtrack to your life, and to anyone who has included me in those choices. I'm so, so, so thankful for that."
Taylor also took the time to tell everyone that her new album, The Tortured Poets Department, will be released on April 19th. The Album will have sixteen new tracks and collaborations, including Post Malone, Florence, and The Machine. Taylor constructed the album (which will be her eleventh) during her Eras Tour last year. On top of her record-breaking tour, writing the album, and attending NFL games to support her boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs player Travis Kelce, Taylor's one busy woman, but we love her for it.
"We have so many exciting things ahead of us," Taylor continues her acceptance speech. "I have a brand new album called The Tortured Poets Department, which comes out on April 19th, and I'm so proud of it. I cannot wait to share with you [all]."
At the 2024 Grammy Awards, Taylor officially announced the new album news and the cover art for it.
Other major wins from the 2024 iHeartRadio Music Awards
In addition to Taylor winning some major awards, punk bands Blink-182 and Green Day were honored. Blink-182 won Alternative Song of the Year for "One More Time," while Green Day was bestowed with the iHeartRadio Landmark Award.
Beyoncé, who just released her first country album, Cowboy Carter, last week, took home the Innovator Award for her decades-long career. It was a fabulous night for everyone, as music continues to be the universal language of humanity.
