We all have fond memories of Christmas when we were growing up, and we kept them alive in our hearts as the years went by. For The 100 actress, Eliza Taylor grew up in Australia, while it's summer during the holidays as it's winter here in the States. She's a lucky girl.
Swapping Chicago winters for Australian summers would be a dream come true. However, the weather has been relatively mild, so I can't complain.
Anyhoo, despite the hemispherical changes, Eliza had some fun experiences with Christmas as a kid, and because we were innocent at that age, we breathed in all of its wonders. As some of these "wonders" impacted us at the time, they became memories, and traditionally, we want to incorporate them into our new Christmas wonders.
In our exclusive Cameo, Eliza discussed her Australian Christmas experiences and how she carried them into adulthood and as a mom.
Eliza Taylor talks about her Christmas memories growing up in Australia
Eliza may have portrayed the rough and head-strong Clarke Griffin on The 100, and as scientist Hannah Carson in NBC's Quantum Leap (should not have been canceled), two women who revolutionized the TV landscape, but in reality, she's more laid back and soft. It's not a mystery that Eliza portrayed these characters exceptionally and with whole heart.
Taking a moment in her Cameo, the mother of one detailed her idealic Christmases as a child growing up in Australia. Like us, hers was filled with great food, Santa, and holiday getways.
"My favorite memories are of barbecues and staying up later because it's summer in Australia. It's light until like 9 PM," the actress says in her Cameo. "So, I just loved having barbecues and going to the beach. My family used to do a little beach getaway for the holidays. We'd go to Ocean Grove, which is off the coast of Victoria and we's just swim and eat yummy food, and that's a really happy memory. It's hard to incorperate into an American Christmas because it's winter." "
Eliza additionally shared how her parents gave her a new Christmas ornament each year. The baubles reflected her personality, and she nows shares this tradition with her two-year-old son, Henry, whom she shares with her The 100 costar, Bob Morley.
Now, what did she look forwad to the most as a child at Christmas? It's very relatable.
"Presents! Santa! Santa coming and delivering the goods of course!"
