When and where to watch the 2024 Annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade
The Annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade is on its way, and we'll be watching it as we wait to indulge in our holiday feast. This year, there will be new balloons, performers, floats, and, of course, the Man of the Holiday Season, Santa Claus! It's sure to be a fun escape before the mayhem.
This year's balloon lineup includes Snoopy, SpongeBob, Minnie Mouse, Gabby from Gabby's Playhouse, Bluey, Paw Patrol, Pikachu, and many others. The balloons will be carried along 34th Street and Central Park, with their final stop at Macy's in Herald Square. Floats will showcase the performers, and headlining the parade are Jennifer Hudson, Billy Porter, Kylie Minogue, and Wicked's Cynthia Erivo.
I love watching the parade every year; it gives me joy since it's meant to be a uniting experience. While I don't live in New York, where the parade takes place, I can watch it from the comfort of my home and enjoy it with my family. Years ago, we had Y2K icons perform, such as Christina Aguilera and N*SYNC, at the start of their careers.
Last year, the Queen of Christmas, Mariah Carey, closed the show. This year, in celebration of her famous holiday track "All I Want For Christmas Is You" 's 30th anniversary, the Grammy winner dropped exclusive merchandise on Amazon.
This year would be no different for me tuning in to take in the wonder and whims. But for those who want to catch the parade, how do you watch it, and when?
How to watch the 2024 Annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade
You can catch it in person if you're in New York on Thanksgiving. However, if you don't like the cold, the crowds, or just plain don't want to go out, or you have family over, then in-person might not be the best option. Or if you're like me and live out of state, say, Chicago, there's another option, and it's safer and more convenient than standing out in the cold.
The 2024 Annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade can be watched live on the NBC Network from 9 AM EST/8 AM CST to 12 PM (all time zones). For those living on the West Coast, the parade will be from 9 AM to 12 PM. If watching the parade live isn't doable, you can stream it on the Peacock app after the event ends. NBC will also rebroadcast the parade at 2 PM.
Following the parade, there's another NBC Thanksgiving event that I love watching. It's the National Dog Show sponsored by Purina and features all dog groups, such as the Toy or the Sporting. As a chihuahua mom, my highlight is seeing the chihuahuas. There are hundreds of other breeds, too, and each has a life story of their own.
